I just replaced my 2017 PW with a 2022. I have less than 2000 miles on it and it is making a hollow thumping noise after about 35 minutes of driving. At first it was intermittent (no rhyme or reason) while accelerating, coasting and braking and mostly above 40 mph.
Now it is almost constant once it starts and it is at all speeds. At first I thought it was a defective tire (but noise does not speed up or slow down with the truck). Now it seems to be in time with hitting bumps and some bigger ones get it resonating like nobodies business.
I have crawled underneath a few times to see if anything obvious was loose and banging around to no avail. It's headed back to dealership tomorrow but I thought I would put it to the pros before dropping it off....
Any ideas would be appreciated... thanks

Can you duplicate this issue consistently? Where does it sound like it is coming from? Do you lose power at all?

You need to contact your dealership service department and schedule an appointment and have the service advisor do a ride-a-long with you as you duplicate the problem.

It is going in this morning. I think I have isolated it to the exhaust system or some part of the emission controls. I just started hearing it this morning while parked idling.

Hopefully they can figure it out.

Thanks

A quick update. They worked on it for 3 hrs and concluded that it had something to do with the Harmon Kardon sound system and its active noise canceling system. Funny thing is that was making the noise again 15 minutes after it was fixed. In hindsight I suspect that they were on the right track but it is most likely a hardware issue and not a software issue....

Will update if and when they figure it out...

crazy. I hate all this new electric fancy tech crap in vehicles. Having said that I got a Level 3 power wagon. haha. I do like the truck but it feels wayyyyy to TECHY for me. I kind miss my 18 with the floor shifter a bit. Everything was great on that truck except I did want the 8 speed and leather with buckets. Could have went level 2 but the interior is so much nicer on the three. By the time I built out a level 2 it was only 1k less than a three. Hope you get your noise tracked down for sure. I'm dealing with this transmission clunk in downshifting currently. Hope that goes away or I can figure out how to drive and not make it happen.

This seems to only happen when you are parked on an incline or decline and shift into reverse. For me, at least. Almost always happens when I visit my parents who have a 16% grade (9*)in 25ft from street to flat driveway.

Not me. Flat as a pancake
