I'm looking to buy a private party 2022 3500's that is a longhorn or limited. When looking at window stickers, I frequently see 2 very similar vehicles with 6k+ difference in MSRP. The main thing I have been able to get it down to is the BASE MSRP price is actually $6k more. Was there a base price change mid year or am I possibly missing something else?

Example attached

There was almost a base price increase every month for the 2022s. I ordered a 2022 3500 bighorn 12/1/21. When it arrived 2.5 months later in Feb '22, the MSRP was $2500 higher on the sticker vs my ordered price. Thankfully Mark Dodge kept to the original price. By the end of the 2022 MY cycle there was almost an $8k difference in between the first few months of production and the end.

Just one person's opinion, but seems as though they went a little overboard. Sure Ram offers a good product, but it also used to be on the "cheaper" side as well compared to Ford/GM. Now there are either minimal price differences or Ram is actually higher.

we bought a 2021 2500 hemi back in early 2021 and I was able to find similar trucks (tradesmans) with different MSRPs, but only $500 - $1k difference. 2022 was the year prices jumped like crazy

Got it. Thanks for the info. So it sounds like it's the same vehicles just bought at different times throughout the year.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing an actual difference in the vehicles.

being both are HO, i'd take a look at this thread. maybe check to see if the Aisin transmission has been "repaired" or had the recall completed.

@mbarber84 has been following these issues and can speak to them without scaring you away from the trucks completely (which build dates are impacted/have had more issues)

good luck

The base price went up $3,340 on my 2022 from ordering on 12/24/21 to being built on 5/27/22. Overall MSRP went up $4,330, over 5%.

For reference the difference in base price from my 2018 to the date of ordering for the 2022 was only $5,115.

I would be happy to provide any info I can.

It’s also worth noting that Ram has recently upgraded their response to the Aisin K1 snap ring failure. It is now a “Customer Satisfaction Notice” which seems to be handled similarly to a recall. The CSN # 71A is currently in place. They identified roughly 5,440 Aisin trucks that were affected by the flawed snap ring. Those trucks that were identified should be flagged in the DealerCONNECT system and owners will be getting mailed notices as well. If you’re looking to buy a used (or new) 2022 Aisin truck, I highly recommend checking to see if the truck qualifies for RRT / RSU 23-065 or CSN-71A prior to purchasing. (Or alternatively checking to see if the snap ring repair has already been completed on said truck under the same programs.)

Is there a way to check if a particular VIN had it done or at the least is within the time frame of when the faulty parts were being used? For example one of the vehicles I'm looking at has a build date around Oct 2021.

Any Ram dealership should be able to access the service records.

If it was part of the currently identified group of potential issues it will have a CSN attached to the VIN as well, which could be open or completed.

If the truck has had either RRT / RSU 23-065 or CSN 71A applied to it, that documentation should be in the vehicles service history. Not exactly sure where that comes up on the screen, but that information would absolutely be part of that vehicles recorded service work through RAM.

I checked like 20+ 2022's with HO's, and none of them have anything under the CSA notices but the Y43 Diesel PM Sensor. Did I just happen to not bump into one or is this CSN not showing up on this website? Do you have a VIN that shows the CSN 71a through this website?
