2022 Front wheel hub noise.

I have a 2022 CCSB 4x4 with the 6.7, and it’s started making noticeably more front end noise when turning, and especially when turning left. Truck is a 10/21 build date, and has appx 64,000 miles, all exclusively Highway with very little 4x4 operation.

After jacking the truck up and yanking on things, I’ve come to the determination that the drivers side front hub is beginning to slop on me, as it is very noisy when spinning, and I can get a minute amount of play out of it by pulling on the wheel.

This seems just insane to me that a wheel hub could be possibly starting to go this early?

Has anyone else been experiencing issues like this? I read on another thread here that CJC is claiming lots of 22’s having premature hub failure. Should I even bother with the dealer, or just order a better aftermarket hub (Moog?) and replace them myself?

Thanks in advance for the responses,

-TP

My 2019 lost a hub early on, less than 40k miles.

I'm pretty sure Moog has moved production to China.
If still in warranty, let the dealer replace it. Otherwise go with aftermarket with the best warranty.

What are the odds that my dealer honors this under the “100k power train” warranty?

I honestly cannot see a world in which they do the right thing and take care of it. Much less replace both on the front like I’d want them to.

The warranty looks good.
I did a search to see what I could find, and really, Moog was the only other set I was able to come up with (avoiding Amazon and eBay). The Moog warranty is only 36 months or 36,000 miles. Between the two, I'd go with the TRQs.

4wd operation has very little effect on hub life. 6.7 and the truck itself is very heavy - I'd also jack up under the front axle and use a large pry bar under the tire to check the ball joints. I wouldn't be unhappy with 64k out of a front hub on a diesel IMO.

My work truck is a 2015 3500 SRW with the 6.7, and I’m sitting at 190k on its 2nd set of hubs, and that truck gets the absolute **** beat out of it off road daily.

There is no way 64k highway miles is the expected service life on these new trucks? That’s horrid.

One example is hardly what I would call the rule for expected. Many factors come into play. The OP could get 64k out of one and 128k out of the other side. Who knows. I still don’t think 64k is any reason to complain. YMMV
