Hey everyone, I have a question regarding the correct transfer case fluid to use. Everything I can find on here seems to indicate using either BW44-46, or your favorite ATF+4. However, my manual says to use BW44-44 fluid. This seems to be the fluid used for the BW transfer case with 4WD auto and the BW44-46 is for the BW transfer case without 4WD auto. I just picked up a 2022 3500 CCLB 4x4 with the H.O. and AS69RC. New to the Cummins diesel, or newer diesel's in general (upgraded from a 2002 7.3 Powerstroke). This new truck does not have the 4WD auto option. With the tighter tolerances these new trucks have, I dont want to screw something up, and prefer to stay with what the manual says. But based on everything I can find, the manual appears to be wrong. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

What did you go with? Sure seems like a part time case could run literally anything. Not even sure what the reason to change it is since in 2wd its just running straight through. I think I am going ATF+4 unless someone has had an issue.

I’ve ran Amsoil SS ATF in all 3 of my BW transfer cases. No issues at all. The mopar part number is on the bottle.

Cool thanks. I have trouble thinking any random ATF wouldn't be able to lubricate bearings, gears, and chains. I should have a couple quarts of ATF+4 if not that won't be hard to find.

I dug a little deeper (not particularly here but did my research on internet reading a variety of replies on different sites). It appears these TCs came prefilled with Multi Vehicle ATF from factory. Some folks have done oil analysis, sent a sample of BW and a sample of ATF+4 fluid to the lab, the results came back showing they're the same fluids with BW having some extra additives. Another reply I read said an insider at BW factory said they're being shipped out with Multi Vehicle ATF in them.
I did fluid changes on my 2015, had extra ATF+4 left over so I used that, didn't feel like going out getting MV Aft just for that

Yup mines filled in ATF+4 and its as quiet and nice as it was before. The old fluid was kinda dirty which surprised me so I'm glad its out of there and new stuff took its place.
