I've seen quite a bit of information on the 8.4" to 12.1" radio swap, of which none of them detail the 6.7 Cummins equipped truck radio, specifically.

Basically put, the 6.7 Radio is entirely different from the Gas equivalents. As it has a physical, separate hard button for the traction control. While gas trucks have their traction control switch in the lower switch bank.

This swap literally takes 10 minutes to do and is a 100% plug and play swap, given the 8.4 NAV trucks already have the separate radio receiver and display, unlike the integrated receiver/display on the 5" and 8.4 NON NAV trucks.

The following settings need to be changed in AlfaOBD

Cabin Net: ICS integrated center stack - Set to "Not Enabled".

Radio & Connectivity: Head Unit Screen Size MUST be set to: R1_12' - 1920x1200

If the above setting isn't set to R1_12' - 1920x1200, your integrated traction control switch, WON'T WORK.

It took a few days, jacking around with settings off and on, in AlfaOBD to come to this solution.

Got lucky and scored this 12" display for $250.83.

Just a little tweak on this, as I discovered something while trying to figure out a different issue (why people lose the dynamic gridlines on the rear camera when they do the UC5 swap into a non-surround view truck):

The way this setting is set from factory on all 12” UC5 factory equipped rams is R1 12.3’ 1920x720.
Having it set to 1920x1200 gets it done for the traction control button, but having it set to 1920x720 is more important for those that don’t have the surround view camera system, and want to get the dynamic gridlines back when going in reverse.

So, interesting bit of information. My truck is set to 1920x1200 and the dynamic grid lines work fine. It's a non-surround view truck.

I wonder if that resolution pertains to UC4 to UC5?

That setting doesn’t get used on UC4 12” radios (it’s set to nothing in the configuration, and 00 in the raw hex backup file on pre-2022 UC4 12” radio equipped trucks), it’s only used on the 2022+ UC5 12” equipped trucks.

If it works on that size for you, it works. I’ve been fighting those settings for days, and that particular one (1920x1200) would allow the gridlines to work for a few starts, but eventually wouldn’t show up anymore (automatically uncheck the box in the radio settings).

Then, I finally grabbed my witech and a bench bcm, and started restoring it to different VINs of 2022+ rams with the 12” radio (15 VINs with a mixture of 1500, HD’s, Cummins, and hemi), and getting the backup files for all of them.

If you look at an alfaobd backup file, you’ll see a bunch of line items that all start with “62”.
The line item that starts with “620148” is the Radio & Connectivity section of settings, and the last two values of that line is the raw hex for the head unit screen size.
On every one of those backup files for all those VINs, the last two values is “12”, which translates to that setting being set to R1 12.3’ 1920x720.
When that setting is set to R1 12’ 1920x1200, that value is “0E”, and I couldn’t find any instance of a backup file being set that way.

Other than all that, I’m not sure what else that setting actually does, but I haven’t lost the gridlines setting anymore since I changed it to 1920x720.
