Hello
My truck recently developed a ticking noise, i sent the attached video to my diesel mechanic and he recommended changing the oil ASAP. But didnt give me any details. I am currently running mobil 1 delvac 5w40, it was changed 2k miles ago. I am nervous there is a larger issue and not sure what changing the oil will do.

Any help or opinions is apreciated

What was the outcome of this?

The outcome was a it's a lifter tick, ram doesn't warranty anything and it ended up costing me 7500 to have the engine pulled and a solid lifter conversion done.

Odd... Warrantied mine first with lifters and cam.. Tick returned, then short block once they (tech/star) found a flaw in the lifter bore. New block has ~15k on it so far.. Smooth and quiet.

Probably more of a dealer limitation as they really don't make any money on the amount of time/labor required to fix. Semi educated guess obviously.

Well maybe you were lucky and I was unlucky. But that's my experience.

Not going into details but I won't be buying another Dodge.
