2021 2500 Bed Removal

Interested in swapping to a flat bed on my 2021 2500. It’s single rear wheel crew can 6’4” bed. Has anyone done this? Anything particular that would make you recommend against this?

Sounds like a interesting idea. As far as pre-manufactured beds I think that there is less versions to choose from compared to the ones for cab & chassis strait frame design. Others may have more knowledge.

Yes sir I know there are less options but I’m a fabricator so plan to make my own. however, I’m worried about any issues this may bring up if any regarding electronics etc. I have the tradesman package so not a lot to worry about other than lights and trailer wiring I believe. Wanted to see if anyone had any more insight on it.

It would be fun to make a flat bed. I will say that I found the wiring at the taillights to be much more than I expected on a tradesman. The trucks seem to be wired for all options even if they only have a few options. There is a hefty amount of wiring underneath the tail end of the truck.

Understood other than confirming proper wiring to new lights not a lot of concern other than wire cleanup after old bed is removed I assume?

no issues really but if you go LED lights you need resistors or alpha obd set it to LED to disable lamp out warnings, easy to build on these trucks, if it was not for the CVOR requirements for decks here i would have built one for mine too
