Door got hit and crushed in a parking lot accident. I like to business with local shop usually. But with a new truck, Is there any benefit to have the dealer perform the work? The body shop has been in business for 40 + years and produces good work that I have seen. They said that on a 2020 they will only use RAM parts.

I usually buy trucks that are 2-4 years old. So this is my first new truck I have ever bought. Total for repairs is about $3500.

I was not well the entire day on Saturday.

I strongly second this. Most dealers have second rate body shops, and the higher end dealers frankly contract out their body shop work.
That's what I was thinking. And the local place has good reviews. And the folks that have lived here 20 years also recommend them also.

I had the entire side of my truck replaced. Fender, door skins, drw bed side. Done properly, only you will know.

Any body shop just read the reviews for the shops online and make your choice.... my local dealer has their own body shop in house but i chose a local body shop that has a record of great work for my 2019 its in right now for a new drivers mirror, drivers door glass and repaint the drivers door

My previous Ram got hit right where the doors meet back in March, damaging just the skins. The body shop I prefer to use happens to be attached to a Buick/Cadillac/GMC dealership but works on everything. They ordered new door skins directly from Ram, total invoice to the insurance company was around $2,000 for two OEM skins, paint, and labor but I live in a pretty low cost area.

CJDR dealerships don't have exclusivity on OEM materials, and body work is not make or model dependent. A dealership would have zero advantage here.

Now to get the other guy's insurance to rent me a 3500 with the 5th wheel hitch so I can still RV xmas and new years!

I had a camping trip already planned and paid for when my accident happened. As long as it's just cosmetic the other guy's insurance will let you schedule the work in the future.

I talked to the other insurance company today. I told them that the door no longer seals and let in rain. So it is not suitable to pull my 5th wheel.

The adjuster seemed to agree on the phone today. And I got a call from Enterprise truck rentals, but I could get back to them before they closed today. I'll call tomorrow.

Got my truck back on Friday! Woohoo. My truck drives and rides much better than the 2020 2500 rental truck did.
