I have a Lance camper in the truck bed, approx weight 3200 pounds, only 16,600 miles on it. I store the entire rig in an RV strorage site during the winter- I have never taken the camper off. I check the rig throughout the winter, start the truck, and sometimes drive around a few miles just to operate everything. Two days ago, I started the truck and immediately received a warning message saying to get service on the air suspension system "immediately". This occurred despite not driving the truck anywhere the last time I started the engine about 2 weeks earlier.

As best I can tell, the system seems to be working correctly; I can hear the air compressor running and the air bags look like they are pressurized. I can't detect any leaking sounds. When I go to the alternate height setting, it seems to do so and I get a message on the dash confirming this. Same when I go back to the normal height., thus the controllers and position sensors seem to functioning properly. I drove the truck around for about 8 miles, turned the engine off and back on several times, no change. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause that warning light to come on by just starting the engine? Temperature is not an issue, it was about 70 degrees.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I have seen on the internet that many dealers do not understand these systems, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can before taking it in (I have about 3 months left on the warranty)

First off, I would not be starting the truck and not driving it at least 20 miles if it’s sitting like that. It’s very hard on the oil and emissions systems. Starting it and idling it without driving is some of the most abuse you can put that engine thru.

Let the truck sit a few days and try again, if it’s still there you may have to take it to a dealership.

Thanks for the input. I failed to point out that I do not have any error codes in the ODB system. That's why I'm puzzled; something has to be amiss in order for the computer to issue the warning, but I can't find any information on what could cause the warning. I found a few people who claimed that by pulling the fuses associated with the system and reinstalling them, they were able to get the warning to clear. I tried that but it didn't work for me.

What are you using to read the codes? There are some tools that can’t read the non standard codes.

It's an Actron. It is a little old, circa 2014, but It's been able to read other codes on this truck.

If the issue has corrected itself, or was just a one time error, it should clear within several power cycles. The auto-level brain is picky thou, and I had to have the dealer do a reboot on my 18 once.. nothing was wrong just the service light came on.

I am thinking and hoping that its something like that. I'll give it a few days and see what happens.

You could always try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

Thanks for the thread link. I checked it out. I've already pulled all the fuses, but there was no change. I wonder if it makes a difference whether you pull the fuse or fuses while the engine is running, or when it is off. I'll try again. Some say they had to go to a dealer to reboot or clear the error. Maybe I should just do that. I just don't have a lot of confidence in the dealer service dept where I bought my truck.
