Can someone assist in my towing numbers. I do not have a trailer. It has 5th wheel prep. Now I know the 2500 just can't tow much being the longhorn and air suspension from factory. But what about hitch weight and capacity. I want to order a gen y boss hitch to have. For future. Buy one and be done but it asks for towing capacity. It's the 2.5" hitch. I'm looking for my own good. They are pricey. Buy one and be done. Plus our here in CA if someone wants to rearend me. They can meet the gen y boss hitch as a little protection to my baby

I forgot to post my stickers. Oops.

Your sticker is hard to read, looks like 2941#? If so, thats actually pretty good for a 2500. Just remember-- tongue weight of your trailer, the weight that sits on your tow ball, IS payload. Your truck can TOW alot more weight than it can CARRY, but with 2900# available payload, I'd say you have more than enough room for a fairly tongue-heavy bumper-pull trailer. Just be careful with a 5th wheel cuz those pin weights get real heavy, real easy.

It says 2041…

OP, my 2500 says 2040 on that sticker but thats irrelevant since the laws really go by axle weights not the payload sticker.

I have had over 3k on my rear axle and it handles it great before I got my added aftermarket air bags

Yea I got the OEM air suspension in the rear right now. But I also read I can't get a gen y boss hitch as a use all, it's designed to know exactly weight of trailer for best ride. Which I don't have a trailer yet so that would be wasting money

I gave up on the 5th wheel idea after I installed the puck prep. THEN reading about the weight and realizing the 2500 just won't cut it. I don't have any trailer. Not sure if I'll ever get a camper. I bought this truck to hold on to and eventually if I buy a few acres it would become my personal work truck wether it's bringing home a new Kubota and trailer, boat , who knows. Nothing in the near future.

With the torsion flex tech. It's gotta be correct for the exact trailer setup being towed to get the best benefit so I can't just buy one for the truck for max tow capacity. Id be dumping $900 for nothing.

The owners manual has the receiver hitch ratings in it, so if you want to match your hitch to your receiver I’d check there.

Huh... even with my newly purchased readin' spectacles, it still looks like it says 2941. Maybe I need a thicker set.
