Hi all and happy friday!

Need some help removing the air inlet housing on my 2019 2500. I actually need to replace the recirculating door that lets in fresh air ... or not. I don't know if it can be replaced while housing is in the vehicle. If anyone has any insight on replacing blend door (recirc door) or removing air inlet housing without taking apart dash i would really appreciate it.

Reason for doing this is because i have the famous whistle noise over 35mph when recirc door is closed and whistle goes away when opening recirc door. same whistle when ac or heat is off and hence the door is closed. Need help please.

Thanks in advance!

The hvac housing doesn’t have to be removed in order to remove the air inlet housing, but the dash does have to be removed. I don’t think you can replace just the door, but the air inlet assembly comes with the door and actuator.

Ok, i appreciate your response and insight. Ive seen videos of people replacing the door or air inlet housing without removing the dash on 4th generation trucks. Im assuming this is no longer possible with a 2019+? removing both upper and lower glovebox will not give me sufficient room?

it stems back to that whistle im getting over 40mph. as soon as i p[ress button for hvac fresh air whistle goes away.... almost completely. I just don't want to take it to the dealer and have them rip out my dash.... Im in NYC northern suburbs and don't even know which dealership is even trustworthy enough to let them troubleshoot this job...
this is why im here trying to get this done on my own.

Thank You

I just happen to have a 2019 dash stripped down, and inlet housing sitting on my bench right now. There is no possible way to access, or remove the inlet housing, or any part of it, without removing the dash.

thanks for your reply!!.. Im a little discouraged now.. i guess im going to have to bring my truck to the dealer and have them do this job and since everything will be open and out ill have them do the TSB on the AC not blowing cold. Hopefully they can do these...
the fun part is trying to explain to them the whistle noise which got me here in the first place. im going to keep my fingers crossed.. if this doesn't get fixed im going to have to let go of the truck because that whistle noise drives me insane... 50/50 of who drives me more insane... the mrs or this noise.
