Hi all, new to the forum and looking for some help. I've never had many problems with my Ram until recently, 265K miles. However, recently I started having overheating issues. Long story short, over the last few weeks, I've had a new electric fan, water pump, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, and fan clutch replaced; after I started having some leaks and overheating issues. Since having all that done, I'm still running hot. Coolant temp is running around 230+, Oil temp is pushing 240, Trans temp is around 175. I'm at a total loss as to what else it could be. Is it possible the thermostat they replaced is bad? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Quick update: with a few more details. I just took it for another drive. First, I let it sit and idle for about 20 mins. Thermostat appeared to open initially, as I saw the temp go from 215ish to 205. After about 10 mins, it got up to 221 and just sat there, didn't see any change in the temp for a while. The only time it dropped is when I revved it to about 2000 rpms, but only dropped to 217. Once I took it on the road, after only about 3-4 miles, it jumped up to 228 and oil temp was 233. Drove about 5 miles down the road, turned around and came back home. It then jumped up to 235 for both coolant and oil temps. It appears that the thermostat is not opening while driving, but that's only a guess. Thoughts???

Thanks,
Ken

Is all the air in the system bled?
Any chance the thermostat was installed backwards?

This looks like the problem I had. After observing all kind of strange indications, replacing the thermostat fixed the issue.

The strangest observation was: I fully filled up the radiator from the top hose, so that it started spilling from the thermostat housing (Thermostat is out, I can see the coolant inside engine block). I turned the engine on, ran it for half a minute, and the coolant in the engine block all steady still, no change.
Shouldn't the water pump spit all the water out??
