Took awhile but I was finally able to get my new Fuel wheels and 35" tires installed last night. Got a great pre-Black Friday deal at Discount Tire where on top of all the rebates, Veteran discount, D/T card discount, etc, but when I called them on the phone to confirm fitament issues (website said they might fit but it could not be certain,) and they were able to lower the price by another $200 on top of throwing in new Bimecc 10 spline black lug nuts and 6 year TPMS sensors. Originally ordered 18x9" Fuel Blitz D674's in +20 offset but there were none available anywhere in the US in 8-165 pattern and my +20 offset for our Ram HD's. I could have found some lower offset but I didn't want any more poke than necessary and that's why I wanted to go with the +20 offsets.
Waited and waited, explored looking for some other 18" Fuel wheels but no better luck. Earlier in the month I saw some Fuel Vapor wheels on a Super Duty in 20" size so I looked it up and it was only 1" less in sidewall on a 35" tire on a 20" wheel vs an 18" wheel. (7.5" vs 8.5") Called my local store and they were able to find a set of 4 Fuel Vapor D560's and although the tires would cost about $80 more per tire, I said let's go with those.
The OE DuraTracs rode very nice and balanced, even at highway speeds. So far the same thing with the new DuraTrac RT's. Plenty of room with the HD Rebel suspension. Now, I just need to pull out my AlfaOBD and read up on reprograming the BCM for the new tire sizes. Tirerack says the overall diameter of my tires are 34.8" but when I measure with them on the truck (with a level), I'm only getting about 34.0". I might start with the circumference for 34.0" (2712mm) first and go from there. (34.8" circumference would be 2776mm).
