    Regens at alarming rate!

It appears you have tunnel vision - Here's a guy whose truck throws the code with only 6200 miles with factory air + fuel filters

    Regens at alarming rate!

Today I was informed There is a national backlog for parts to remedy the Y43 - get your rig to a dealer right away to get in line/parts ordered.

    Regens at alarming rate!

I contacted a different dealer today - I informed the service advisor about the open recall issues for my truck - She has the parts to take care of the 13A in stock and She informed me the DPF issue has created a national backlog but once I get my truck into their shop, it will be in writing...

    Regens at alarming rate!

Yeah, the tranny was in park while the pic was snapped. The automatic process only happens while driving and you will see a message something like "Automatic regeneration in process"

    Regens at alarming rate!

This is interesting.., Just checked mine and looks like my idle time is roughly 12% - I actually thought it would be less than that as I make it a point to NOT let the truck idle.

    Regens at alarming rate!

The automatic regen process triggers at 25%! I snapped a pic the first time the message appeared on my dash. It has done this twice in 130 miles - Both times I drove until the process completed - in about 10 miles. I am amazed at the amount of diesel fuel wasted for this process to play out. I...

    Regens at alarming rate!

The RAM service tech had my truck in the shop for THREE hours - with an appointment - They acknowledged seeing the fuel filter life gauge but insisted on me paying them $400 to change the fuel filters anyway. The local auto parts store plugged in the device, hooked it up to a computer and...

Most likely solution: "Replace Diesel Particulate Filter..,"

    Regens at alarming rate!

I personally changed the fuel filters - It's NOT rocket science and to charge $400 is absurd. I'm not a mechanic, never did it before and it only took me about 90 minutes after watching a single you tube video - No leaks / no problems 6,000 miles later. I'm sure a "mechanic" could complete the...

    Regens at alarming rate!

There is a gauge on the dash which tracks the fuel filters - it currently reads 68% life left. The RAM service technicians are well aware of this feature and they acknowledged that fact - their position was since they didn't change the fuel filters - I need to pay them $400 to continue.., They...

    Regens at alarming rate!

I replaced the fuel filters at about 14,000 miles while I was in Florida. If I remember correctly, it took me about 90 minutes. This is irrelevant anyway - an auto parts store provided the computer code of the reason for the check engine light.

    Regens at alarming rate!

The odometer registered 130 miles between the two cycles - Not possible to have 24 engine hours. My commute to work is about 9 miles of highway driving with one stop light between home & work. The RAM service advisor was absolutely not acting "faithfully or accurately" when he indicated to me...

    Regens at alarming rate!

I snapped a pic of the last time this happened I drove at highway speeds (75+) until completion - (less than 15 miles). that was actually about two weeks ago - (Time flys) It just happened again today - at 25% - I drove it until it completed - Less than 10 miles - engine brake on during long...

    Regens at alarming rate!

Well, my truck has an open recall (Y43) which indicates: "The Particulate Matter Sensor and Module on your vehicle [1] may not have been installed during the manufacturing process..," Something is definitely NOT right. It doesn't help that the local RAM dealer lied straight to my face about...

    Regens at alarming rate!

I haven't really been paying attention until my recent visit with the RAM dealer - the line they fed me about the air filter didn't make sense to me and that's how I found this thread..., looking for answers. I clicked an image of the odometer from the last regen about a week ago. It's Almost...

    Regens at alarming rate!

I really didn't expect to see another automatic regen process within 30 miles of the last one. So when the message popped up, I put the truck in park to see the meter and it was at about 25%. I continued driving and engaged the engine brake thinking that may help while going down some long...

    Regens at alarming rate!

Okay, I received my answer.., The RAM dealer lied directly to my face  - tried to sell me $400 worth of air + fuel filters I do NOT need. o_O AutoZone ran a diagnostic tool which indicated the check engine light is due to the "Diesel Particulate Filter" (DPF) - (While driving to the...

    Regens at alarming rate!

AIR FILTER? Just my $0.02 I replaced my air filter in September 2022. Drove from South Florida to Northern Utah pulling a 16K # 5th wheel without issue. Truck pulled like a champ. About 10 days ago, my check engine light lit up. I was only driving local short trips with NO load for several...

Does Ram Care actually care??? I think not!

WOW - Thank you for sharing the happy ending to such an unfortunate experience. I do use my '22 Ram to pull a 5th wheel (so far without issue) and I'm taking notes..,

    Regens at alarming rate!

Thanks for the info - This is my first diesel truck and the learning curve is a bit steep! Last year I was pulling a 16K lbs 5th wheel all over the country without any issues. For the past two months I've been local and only running short trips with no load. I have today off so I'm gonna go open...
