Maybe I just haven't experienced an obnoxious mud tire design since those Super Swampers?
The last two mud tires I have run were the Cooper Evolution MTs...
And the Milestar Patagonia MTs...
Neither tire was loud or obnoxious going down the road, and I ran both tires on road trips...
I have been driving and modifying vehicles for over 40 years and in all that time, and dozens of vehicles, only one vehicle had tire noise that was noticeable and obnoxious. It was a 1979 Dodge W100 that was lifted and on 36" Interco Super Swampers. I owned it in 1990 while stationed on Kauai...
The MT Baja Boss ATs are the best tire I've ever ran. They are on my Jeep and were on my Ram until I went up to 37s and decided to try the Patagonia XTs for $140 less each tire.
I went from pizza cutter 35s to "normal" 37x12.50R17s. The 37s look way better, and my average mpg has not noticeably changed. I'm doing a 3000-mile road trip to Arizona and back in 3 weeks and wanted bigger and wider rubber for the desert trails I go on.

Yeah, I had checked that out before and was hoping that the zero offset would work, but it rubs. Definitely need to upgrade to their front leveling kit. Thanks!
Thanks for the info! I'm debating going with a true 4-inch lift, but it is insanely expensive! Looking like $1600 for the kit, and another $700 for install and alignment. Crazy.
Took the truck to a local tire shop to have the new wheels and tires balanced. Discount Tire is incapable of balancing wheels and tires. I was about a half hour from the Discount Tire and on a good road when I finally realized that they weren't balanced.
I took the truck to a local shop and...
I added a cheap Chinese steel bumper up front and a 16.5k winch. The bumper was about 100lbs and the winch another 70. I didn't notice any issues at all with the minor weight increase.
But, I want to upgrade the bumper to something higher quality such as a Steelcraft bumper, and the one I...
My dad runs them on his Jeep in Arizona and loves them. Previous tire I ran was the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT and it was amazing. But, it was also $466 vs. $322 for the Patagonia XT in 37s.
Installed 37x12.50R17 Milestar Patagonia XTs on 8" rims with 0 offset today. 2.5" leveling kit up front. Minor rubbing on plastic wheelwell liner. I'll do some trimming tomorrow to take care of that. And fix my bumper. Hit some dirt off-roading last month and tweaked it up.
The previous...
Those should do pretty well. It's surprising how many 4x4 owners have no idea just how much the tire tread and compound affects vehicle performance in snow and off-road. I saw another post today on a Facebook page from some guy asking how his model of truck does in the snow since he's nervous...
Currently have a 2024 diesel with a 2.5" leveling kit and Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT pizza cutters in LT255/85R17 on 8" rims with a 0 offset.
Great tires, but am taking the truck on a road trip and will be doing a fair amount of trail running in the desert and wanted a wider and taller tire...
I herniated a disk at work back in August. I've been going to therapy and finally was declared as good as it gets with my condition. Basically, I'm 57 years old and have been abusing my body for 50 years. I've had a lot of fun, but now I have a bunch of arthritis in my back, some still mildly...
My AR10 is a PSA10 and is lucky to get close to 1" groups.
I'm also in WA state and am 2 miles from the Idaho border. Trying to get back to Idaho where I was born and grew up, but housing prices are insane. My house in Idaho, a mere few miles away, is worth twice what it is in commie...
Where I live it gets to the negative temps, and for most of the trip down it can get into the single-digits until you drop down out of the mountains of Nevada. I do the first night in Twin Falls, ID, then the second night is usually Southern Utah, so am good there.
I need fuel additive...
I'm going on my annual 3000-mile road trip from Washington state to the Arizona/Mexico border and back in March. I've only done in it either a lifted 4Runner or a lifted Jeep Wrangler, so this trip in the Ram will be a treat. My first oil change was done at 3900 miles using Rotella 5-40w T6...
