What advice would you give to a young version of yourself, if you were buying your first HD Diesel?

If I can send messages through time they won't be about my pickup truck.

    BakFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover (SOLD)

I’m interested in the Bakbox If you’ll ship it to 94115. Greyhound Package Express is the cheapest way to ship bulk freight.

How do Ram headlights compare? Halogen vs reflector LED vs projector LED

Thanks for clarifying. I’ll edit my post to avoid misinformation.

How do Ram headlights compare? Halogen vs reflector LED vs projector LED

Per @Jimmy07, the Laramie lights can be enabled via AlfaOBD config changes using the stock harness or you can use an adapter harness. The Limited lights require an adapter harness that you can buy from @Jimmy07 and some configuration settings.

How do Ram headlights compare? Halogen vs reflector LED vs projector LED

The halogen reflector headlights on my 2019 Ram 2500 Big Horn are horrible (my fog lights seem to put out more light) so I’m upgrading to either the LED reflectors that come on Laramie models or the LED projectors that come on Limited models. The Laramie headlights are plug and play, with minor...

RamCares Cp4 service solution updates - (Y78) CP4 recall issued by FCA - 2020 Parts Available May 10

I am experiencing a noticeable clicking sound (maybe once a second or more) after getting the CP3 pump installed. It goes away when the engine is fully warmed up, like after 30 minutes of driving. Has anyone else noticed this?

RamCares Cp4 service solution updates - (Y78) CP4 recall issued by FCA - 2020 Parts Available May 10

It’s day 1, but the mileage on my 2019 went from 14 MPG combined to 17 MPG combined after the HPFP and fuel lines replacement. (I was pretty disappointed with the fuel economy before.) That’s a 20% increase, which is awesome in my book. I don’t think everyone will see a difference - my original...

RamCares Cp4 service solution updates - (Y78) CP4 recall issued by FCA - 2020 Parts Available May 10

I just got the pump replaced on my 2019. I'm glad my dealer didn't have this bulletin!

    Convex Main Mirror Upgrade?

I'm in, but I'm not thrilled to pay $210 for it. Ideally it would be under $100 or $150 at the most. Edit: now that I see this is for both mirrors it sounds more reasonable.

RamCares Cp4 service solution updates - (Y78) CP4 recall issued by FCA - 2020 Parts Available May 10

LOL. They're all just making this up. My dealer will do the recall on all model years and they claim to be able to order two kits per week. One kit, two kit; 2019 only, 2020 only, all years; need an inspection or don't... lots of variation.

RamCares Cp4 service solution updates - (Y78) CP4 recall issued by FCA - 2020 Parts Available May 10

Putnam said they'd call me when the parts were ready but I called them back to check anyway. Of course their parts department said "oh, sure, we have your kit right here" despite no outreach from the service department. Truck is in for the HPFP replacement now, about 10 days after the initial...

I just called Stoneridge and they said they now have a waitlist that is at least a month long.

Dealer practices: fuel filter with oil change on Cummins?

My dealer didn't do it, but they also only charged $225 to change the oil (which involves $150 in parts).

What's the most annoying thing about your truck?

We all love our trucks but nothing is perfect. What's the most annoying thing to you about your truck? I'll start: I used my truck to go to the airport today for a business trip. First time in a while given the pandemic. As I pull up to the hourly parking garage (a necessary expense when you...

RamCares Cp4 service solution updates - (Y78) CP4 recall issued by FCA - 2020 Parts Available May 10

That’s weird. I put my 19 VIN into the Mopar recall site and it said parts available. They really should say the same thing regardless of whether you’re using the website, calling the manufacturer, or talking to your dealer.

Putnam CJDR in Burlingame. I thought I might get lucky because no one drives big diesel pickups in San Francisco but I guess not!

RamCares Cp4 service solution updates - (Y78) CP4 recall issued by FCA - 2020 Parts Available May 10

I dropped my new-to-me 2019 off at a SF Bay Area dealer yesterday. They addressed the Z20 recall (ESC Malfunction) and approved me for the Y78 recall (HPFP). I'm 8th on their list and they are able to get 2 kits per week, which means it'll be my turn in a month.

Used 2019 Ram 2500: inspection? warranty?

Good point. The one I'm considering has 2240 lbs of payload, which is enough for us. (It'll be a tow vehicle; we aren't planning a slide-on camper or gooseneck or anything.) There is another 2019, a Laramie with all the options I want, for $64K. The differences are less miles (44K vs. 56K), LED...
