Lets see what you are towing!

It has hydronic disc brakes on all 6 wheels. I wouldn’t pull something this big without disc brakes.

It is a handful and a half to tow. Haha Yes the 5500 is derated from a 2500/3500 power. It is about 50hp and 75lb less. I don’t go anywhere in a hurry. The rear end is a 4.88 so that helps the low end torque off the line.

Here is our latest rig. She is a big girl! 47’ weighing in just over 29k. She turns heads wherever we go. Truck pulls great but isn’t a big fan of starting from a dead stop up hill.

    Ram 5500 vs 3500 Bumper

I am looking at replacing my front bumper on my RAM 5550 (2023). Does anyone know if the bolt patterns match between 5500 and 3500? Very few options for a 5500 bumper that "fit". I know a lot of the other parts are interchangeable with a 3500/2500 but since the frame is different I didn't know...

    Help with Towing Calc

[Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, just a consumer that has lived through frame failure] You are correct. Goosebox is the only "approved" because Goosebox is a Lippert product. However, if you have frame failure the manufacture (Lippert) has to prove that aftermarket part caused the failure...

Go with the higher number rating version. Once it breaks in it will ride great.

    Help with Towing Calc

Love my gen-y! Use the same calc for pin weight to figure out which gen-y model to get (22%).

    Help with Towing Calc

That is correct. I would find out where the tanks are in that model. If they are forward of the axels it will add more pin weight when you have water in the tanks for boondocking. If you plan to have toys in the back that is another factor. Also, if you switch to a Gen-y/goodbox that will be a...

    Help with Towing Calc

Based off of this sheet (which I think is your numbers on page 4 row 5) and your weights: (https://www.ramtrucks.com/BodyBuilder/service/Image?imageId=MtQrP%2FFqLY5r%2Fest8MtGjGgHzAHGUTU0WB3rWuqSY7YmQ2vEhuBWBFy6Od5Hdu%2FD%0A) Total weight you can have in/on the truck is: 12,300 (GVWR) - 8,640...

    Help with Towing Calc

We loved the Valor as well. It was that or a GD Momentum, but both are quality rigs. I would steer you in the direction of a fifth wheel as well. They pull much better, especially if you are going to do more than weekends. Most fifth-wheel toy haulers will not be lower than 16k GVWR. Good luck...

    Help with Towing Calc

You will be close… it usually isn’t a matter of how much you can tow, pin weight/payload is what gets capped out first. You also have the 68RFE which will get warm when pulling long/steep grades. Mine would start to slip when it got hot. I agree you can do it with the drive train. I pulled my GD...

    Help with Towing Calc

If you are looking for a toyhauler. Most are going to be HEAVY.... The easy math for true pin weight once you get everything loaded is about 22% of your trailer GVWR. Example: (My current setup) GD Momentum 399TH GVWR = 21,000# 22% of 21k = 4,620# Actual weight 4,734# (CAT scaled weighed) I...

Advice: When the Furrion camera on the back of our TT is on,our display screen goes dark

No worries. It took me a few to figure it out when I got the same camera. :)

Advice: When the Furrion camera on the back of our TT is on,our display screen goes dark

Your Furrion camera on your TT is powered by the lights on the trailer. So you trailer lights have to be on for your camera to work. There is a dial on the dash next to your lights knob that you can turn all the way up when you lights are on during the day to make your displays brighter.

    21' 3500 vs 23' 5500 Opinion and Review

Hello all, I don't know how many out there will ever need a 3500 DRW or even a 5500 for that matter but I wanted to pass along some info/opinion to save you some time and money. A little background my family and I are full time in our 5th wheel, we travel all over so we tend to take more...

    Long crank

My '23 5500 has a "long crank" compared to what my '21 3500 was. It is a programming thing as the dealer said they change the programming every year. My 5500 is also "de-tuned" compared to my 3500 so that may play into it as well.

    4500 Camper/Jeep Hauler Build

Love the progress! I won't be far behind in the suspension category. Can't wait to hear how it rides! Unloaded, no bed 4500/5500 you can feel an ant in the road.

    AlfaOBD & Stock Air Suspension

If it is anything like my 3500 DRW with air, you can't adjust it. It is a manual switch that is activated by weight going on to the leaf spring. Airing your tires down won't help because that doesn't change the leaf spring position. The "alternate" ride height just changes the switch position on...
