Chevy 1500s were doing pretty bad. The LS engine with cylinder shutdown killed their brands reliability. 05' era were bullit proof.
My 6.4 is a 2022. Lifter failed and started to grind the cam. It was replaced at 32k miles. Have 42k now.
Also there are soo many cars with these lifters in...
I had my 6.4 hemi replaced for failing lifters. I wonder which engine has a worse ratio of produced/failed lifters between the hd gas and deisel.
Also wish I knew new that ratio between ram, Ford and chevy. They all seem to have an issue with this or cam phasers.
I like the flat tappet idea...
Dont think thats right. G80 is a clutch engaged automatic locker. It has no slip limiting like the ram with one tire moving a bit faster than the other. The g80s, like my 05 Silverado and 2022 senses slip and locks both wheels together.
" The G80 is a mechanically activated automatically...
The bfg all terrain hasn't changed its tread since 1977. While they are on gen 4 of the KO series there was absolutely no towing in mind for its design. Ko stands for key off-road. They steer like crap. Constant scrub. A commercial tire will run circles around an all terrain from 50 yrs ago for...
Traction control doesn't do what most people think. All it can do is cut power on and off, or on some vehicles (not rams) apply brakes. It cant spin the diff to engage the anti slip clutches if TC cuts power when it spins. So the devices fight each other. It works better with tc off.
Not...
My buddy had a 2wd deisel chevy, had to sell it to buy a 4x4 because it was so useless on any job site.
Honestly the tires aren't as important a driving wheels. I opted for the limited slip, and if you don't turn traction control off it won't kick in, even on a concrete slope. But when you...
A bad hwy tire is better on the hwy and towing than a good all terrain.
Yall just want all terrains for looks. They tow worse. That soft ride is your truck wobbling around. I rarely see working duallies on anything but a hwy tire.
Ehh. I like em for towing. No way a mud tire is better on highway. I have bfgs on my 1500, they are a mess. Great offroad tho.
I just run these now and carry 2 spares. Like my trailers.
I suspect there may be something we are doing with this engine that ram won't disclose as a problem. For instance if I park on a steep slope nose down, the lifters tick hard for the first several seconds. I've noticed it 3/3 times I've parked like that. Now I don't park downhill. If the oil pump...
Well new ram and chevy are having major lifter issues, for one. A dohc engine like the coyote or 1uz would solve that. HLA lash adjustment seems to me more robust. Though l do prefer shims.
I've got the 6.4 and its pretty perfect for a SRW 2500. I'm a younger generation it seems as the term v8 is a bit cringy now a days to me and most in the youth track day racecar world. You really want Dual overhead cams and forced induction (like the new mustang and Corvette zr1). So if someone...
