Possible. Not probable, but possible. I will say my cousin's truck is the very first year of the 10 speed, and it was used at a tow pig for the first 65k miles before he bought it. He's put 100k on it since then. Zero issues with the trans.
The half-foot (10 minus 4 is 6) longer bed makes all the difference in the world when what you're trying to load into the bed of a Ram is a few inches away from being able to close the tailgate.
MDS is one of the most common complaints with Hemi engines. It's all over the owners' groups and the forums.
The Ford 100% has a stronger chassis. In fact, you can even see this with the naked eye. Spend some time crawling around under a 2017+ F-250 and then when you crawl under a Ram 2500 you'd think you were looking at a 1/2 ton truck. It's a very noticeable difference in frame size, strength, welding, and boxing.
Combined with the aluminum body, nicer cab, and power output the Ford is a no-brainer for a gas truck. It's not even close.
Having said that, the two I've owned have been diesel, and I gotta' say the 6.7 Powerstroke will pull circles around this Cummins. I would be willing to overlook that if the Cummins still had it's pre-2018 reliability, but that ship has sailed too with roller rocker failures, grid heater failures, warped exhaust manifolds, etc. plaguing these new ones.
So honestly, Ford just has a better truck any way you slice it. Does that mean I don't like my Ram? NO.
Having put many MANY miles on a 22-26klbs Ram 6.7 and Ford 6.7 (and older models) Yes Ill agree that the Ford is a faster accelerator, but as for real world towing where I dont need to speed I prefer the cummins. But the powerstroke is extremely nice so either is a solid choice.
Having over 200k miles on an MDS setup hauling and towing in both 5.7 and 6.4 BGE iterations I dont see the issue being as widespread IF you take care of your truck.
I honestly love both the Ford and the Ram gassers and have a ton of time behind the wheel of both trucks and it honestly and truly comes down to what exterior and interior looks and you prefer. Same goes for the GM aside from a couple issues their gassers have. Real world niether is superior if maintained and cared for...even if used hard.
