Does your Cummins regenerate once per tank?

My truck is now going through a regen every less than 100 miles to no more than 225 miles.
I have had to drain oil out of my crank case twice due to it showing over full. I sent an oil sample to Black Stone and I have as expected excess fuel in my oil. My truck is going in to the local Ram dealer body shop on Monday (I was rear ended) and the shop will check for stored codes. If the “frequent regen” code is stored, the truck will be transferred to the service dept for corrections. If this is not corrected I will be selling the truck.

Have to ask is the truck doing 75% or more city stop & go driving? If so may want to do weekly hwy drive of 1 hr or more along with a fuel additive like Pittsburg Max Mileage FBC or Archoil 6400d followed by their 6500 in every tank. As others stated above ditch Blackstone, your choice of UOA kits is either Fleetguard CC2543 kit or the one from Amsoil they both use the same oil lab and never buy prepaid postage kits as you can pay the postage yourself and save a few $$$, also the kits I listed are cheaper than Blackstone and they include TBN at no extra cost....
 
Yes the truck has been a daily driver and probably 75% or more time on short trips.
I just bought a Honda Civic to remove it from daily driver duties.
I will take your advice and send my next oil sample out to one of the other labs that you recommended. I had not driven a car in years and I am finding it a challenge to get used to. My wallet is enjoying the lower cost less frequent fuel stops. That alone will help me get used to what feels like sitting a foot off of the road with no visibility.

I don't buy this short trip thing...that's all I do with some occasional towing.
 
I just changed my driving habits and my truck so far is responding positively. I started using the gear select function on the steering wheel instead of just driving every where in “D”.
For my in town in neighborhood driving I limit my transmission shifting to third or second gear depending on speed. My DPF filter was showing about 1/3rd clogged and doing this cleared the screen back to 0. So far so good.
Previously, my truck would shift all the way into 5th if I was going 35 miles an hour. My guess is low rpm may be responsible for soot build up. I may be on to something….
 
Just found this thread, I recently bought a 2024. Had 9300 miles on it when I got it 4 months ago, currently at 13,500 miles after my trip from NY to SC and back to NY, With that being said my DPF filter gauge has read 0% the whole time I've had it. I do drive 95% highway miles and run Archoil in every tank of diesel. Is it normal for it to stay at 0?
 
My 2025 makes a distinct engine grumble when doing a regen, almost like EB is engaging a bit at idle. It regens pretty much every 1-1.5 fuel fill ups.

its probably not - you just are not seeing it when its got a reading on it.

I noticed mine was half way between 1/2 and 1/4 one day, flipped past the screen and forgot about it. The next day I looked ant it was at ZERO. So after 2 days of 35-50 mph of short trip driving it the truck did its thing. No additives...just talk nicely to her once in awhile.

That is true, I periodically check the screen and just always seen it at 0. Tomorrow ill leave it on that screen back and forth to work and see when it moves... now im curious LOL

My 2022 laughs at 35-50mph, and rewards me with another 30% on the DPFrg% lol

In my 22 last year on a 4500+ mile road trip, the truck empty, no towing, after the next 24 hour regen of my trip I never saw the DPF gauge read above zero before each of 24 hour regen I had on that trip, the dash DPF gauge stayed at zero the whole time until after I was back home from my road trip to my normal mixed city hwy driving... I also use Archoil in every tank, would not be without it....
