Digital rear–view mirror with side cameras(Cameras next to the mirror not below it)

I understand that there is an option for additional side camera's on the 2500&3500s. Anyone have them to enlighten me what additionally gained in addition to the surround view? I've seen the basic surround cameras turn on with signal light as well as show up in the digital rear view if equipped. Is it just a clearer straight line down the side?
 
The 360 view basically gives you a top down view around he truck....using all the cameras. Not sure what you mean by "basic" surround cameras - you either have 360 or you dont. If the truck doesn't have the mirror cameras or front camera you do not have 360 view.
 
I can't find an image now, but I swear I've see some rams with additional cameras here in the mirror above the spotlight. 1773443509060.png
 
There is an additional camera there on ‘23+ trucks with the DRVM 3.0, which is only available with the trailer reverse steering.

The cameras show up in the mirror when you have a trailer cam hooked up and press the left button on the mirror.
 
The DRVM 3.0 with trailer steer has cameras there that display on the mirror.

Mutually exclusive with AUX switches. I haven't been tracking any of the mods to know if they can be added.

I don't see where he said anything about surround cameras.

The DRVM 3.0 with trailer and side view cameras is a separate system and extra cameras in the mirrors.

Are those located in the mirror where the OP indicated? I always thought that was the cameras under the mirror. I have never seen that option on a HD truck when I have been buying LOL.

The surround view camera is the one that points down and used for surround view on Uconnect.

The circled position in the image of the mirror is for the trailer view cameras that display in the DRVM. This is what he's asking about.

I’m not sure anyone has bothered adding them because you have to buy entirely new mirrors. They don’t sell the camera and bezel on their own.

My side cameras are actually labeled trailer reverse guidance - which is why I thought they were used with the trailer steer...

But I learned something new I guess.
