How bad is all that extra weight up front with a new bumper and winch?

I added a cheap Chinese steel bumper up front and a 16.5k winch. The bumper was about 100lbs and the winch another 70. I didn't notice any issues at all with the minor weight increase.

But, I want to upgrade the bumper to something higher quality such as a Steelcraft bumper, and the one I like is 340lbs. The other one that would also work is 285lbs. The lightest winch bumper they have is 265lbs.

Current front suspension is stock except for a 2.5" spacer leveling kit.
Front tires are already rubbing every now and then due to 37's. How much does another 400lbs up front going to affect ride height and suspension component life?

I have a level on the front and a Ranchhand. I have no odd wear on the tires or anything seemingly wearing out prematurely in the front. Winch I don't have however, but I can't imagine that adding too much extra.

Thanks for the info! I'm debating going with a true 4-inch lift, but it is insanely expensive! Looking like $1600 for the kit, and another $700 for install and alignment. Crazy.

Here I thought I would share a link to Thuren’s website as they are definitely the experts on Ram 2500/3500 and going off-road even at a high rate of speed. From what I gather in your posts you seem to off-road a fair amount or least some fire lanes. That link provides great information about how more lift actually doesn’t equate to more clearance unless it’s simply a concrete cruiser where it doesn’t get off-road flex much. It also talks about how critical wheel width and offset are.

Anywho, hope it helps you out.

Yeah, I had checked that out before and was hoping that the zero offset would work, but it rubs. Definitely need to upgrade to their front leveling kit. Thanks!

Oh, darn, I didn’t know. Hm well I’ll look around and see what else I can find.
