Scanned through most of the threads before posting, and didn't see a problem quite like this.

Yesterday, I checked the dash for the DPF as I often do and it showed 0% after it had finished a passive regen, that's good.

Today on the way to work after about 5 miles on the highway it displayed that it was going into forced regen. I checked the gauge again and it showed 50%, ok what the heck.

1 minute later it displayed that the filter was full and to see the dealer, power reduced. I checked the gauge again and it was at 90%

I am not sure what the actual problem could be if it's a sensor or what, doubt the filter is actually full, it was running strong as usual prior to the power cut. Being that it went from 0% to 90% within 5 miles seems odd. Its got 100k miles on it. All these codes P242F, P0299, and P2495 showed up at once. I would like to avoid the dealer, I am comfortable replacing any parts needed, I just don't know where to start. Thanks for any advice.

Also, will it even try to regenerate at all while driving in reduced power mode?

I looked around at all the different threads about everyone's DPF issues since I couldn't find anything that matched mine. I ended up trying the following:

Started off with Jscan, I couldn't get it to force a regen, kept erroring with ID: 10 Looking into what condition wasn't being met was going nowhere, most likely code P242F.

Switched over to AlphaODB. Set it that the DPF filter was replaced. Then went to forced regen. After about 20 min it finished and it showed about 25% down from 100% on the gauge.

I guess that's progress, but not sure if it will continue to get better or not. I hope it goes into passive on it's own. At least it's out of reduced power mode now and I will see what happens on my commute tomorrow.

My 2021 ram 2500 just did the same thing. Do u know what is happening. Worried to drive my truck

I had installed a S&B air intake which apparently is something you shouldn’t do on the cummins. I just wanted a serviceable filter.

I put the stock air box back on and got a specific filter that is mentioned in another thread. Also my tmap sensor was completely encased in carbon build up. I cleaned that and with the correct air filter it solved my problems. Also check your oil. Mine had a ton of fuel in it from the constant regens.

Check out this thread, about a 100 pages long and tons of other members battle. But will give you all the insight you need about regens and what to look for.

are you still running good without replacing the DPF? Mine sort of did the same thing but I brought to the dealer hoping for some insight and help. Also tried to reach out to as many ex Chrysler guys I knew for some feedback and that wasn't very beneficial!! I had mine replaced and it sounds like if I had AlfaOBD and the by pass that maybe I could have done the manual regen and saved it!! The dealer doesn't try to save anything it seems their "script" is to just replace. I have been watching my DPF screen all the time now and I get automatic regens and all seems proper but they do seem frequent. I will be replacing my mass airflow sensor, CCV filter, and air filter soon.

Ya so far so good.

There was no way in hell I was going to the dealer after reading about what everyone else experienced. I got a Edge CTS3 so I could watch all the sensors since the regen too often CEL code don't tell you anything Saw the MAP sensor reading wrong, so cleaned that up. The S&B box surely messed things up as well. Changed that and my CCV filter as well and drained the oil which probably had a gallon of fuel in it.

After a 18 hours of driving the 1st passive regen happened and the CEL cleared. Now 4 months later I get around 18-26 hours of driving between regens depending on how much traffic I get stuck in. That thread I linked above taught me a lot, check it out.

good news... I have been going to the dealer for my oil changes, might be time to do my own. Going to hit all the major contributors next for maintenance.
