New Ram HDs in 2027 or 2028

2 low would be handy as hell.

Do a lot of very heavily loaded, low speed, off road hauling. It’s a great way to keep trans temps down.

I’d pay good money for a factory setup.

Yeah, a dependable infotainment system. Fix the aux gauges and get the iphone connections perfected. How can I drive safer if the "safety" features are distracting?

Personally I don't put any value at all into the entertainment system in any vehicle. There can be from 1 - 4 people in the vehicle and we each want to listen to your own music or watch our own videos. I don't want to hear their music and they don't want to hear mine.

The money would be better spent on more power like the dual alternator / dual batteries, improved reception for the wireless stuff, and water resistance like a jeep - where you can drive it into water that is high enough to come in through an open door and it is a non issue.

If I want to use speakers instead of a head phone, I can just buy a bose speaker with blue tooth.

I don't need another GPS - already have one. The speakers and amp are just a waste of money unless they are part of making it quiet inside.

I understand what you’re saying, but I didn’t pay 70 grand for a pickup to listen to a Bluetooth speaker. I’m all about quality audio equipment.

If my passengers don’t like what I’m listening to, that sounds like a personal problem. Lol

If my wife is driving I don't want to hear her music - our taste in music have diverged over the decades. The kids and grand kids can listen to their music and be peaceful in the back seat. Sometimes I just want to lean back the rear seat , let my son in law drive, and take a nap with my music. The rest of the world can just fly by.

I can respect that.

I’m just nowhere near that point in my life yet.

Reliability should be the number one priority and main focus.

Who cares if the cabin has been the same for 14+ years. Ram already has the best diesel engine, best interior, and now possibly the best transmission. Let’s get this thing back to 1,000,000 miles.

For the ZF transmission doubters: Here’s a ZF 8HP70 under a 240SX with 1,100 HP at the wheels. Transmission is bone STOCK. The guy races and daily drives the car and has had zero issues.

Given the refresh in 2025, when do you guys think we will see a true new Ram HD, 2027 or 2028?

Yes, I believe the current 2025 - 2027 will be the end of the 4th gen body style. I think Ram will release a new body style (cab configuration) in 2028 when the new full-sized SUV is released. Ram doesn't have a lot of choice. They really need to come out with an all-new truck to boost sales. Hopefully, it will be highly tested for reliability and ready for the marketplace.

This year, they unveiled the 2025's at the Detroit auto show in January. Is there anything to suggest we'll get that again this year? Or do you think we'll have to wait till spring/summer for the next unveiling? The show starts Jan 14th, 2026.
Bueller? Anyone?

RAM has routinely talked about the mid size truck segment for new products. To compete with the Maverick and hybrids like that.

That is where I expect them to be putting in most of the efforts.

Most of the complaints about the 250 / 350 cab are solved with a megacab - not all but most, so the only real issue is if they will offer that with lower end trim levels or not - just MHO.

Modest engineering efforts to improve the water , mud and rock resistance of the 250 / 350 can probably get them more sales than a complete cab re-design.

If you think this 15 year old cab is fine the way it is, you really need to go drive a new Ford stupid duty. The driver comfort is the best of the Big 3 2023-2026 bar none. It has a door built to hold your left arm. Telescoping wheel. Tons of knee room. Plenty of head room. Only thing it's missing is a right arm rest in the seat.

I imagine they'll just show the current 2026 models. If they haven't leaked anything for '27/'28 then you won't see it at the show either. Just my $.02
If they seriously don't come out with Gen 5 for 2027 MY, it will make me a lot happier I jumped right on the 25. I was between getting a 25 and waiting for an alleged new 27. But if they do wait till 28, then it'll make me wonder if Tim said something like "Let's hold off on the next generation release until we've actually tested it and worked the bugs out".

Both the Ford and Ram HD are 144 +/-

Ford 2.9 inches interior larger than Ram. I feel Ford feels bigger and offers more legroom in its crew cab while the Mega Cab prioritizes massive passenger volume and finishes. I can't understand why some people feel they need a bigger cab than what's out there, hell all you are doing is driving it, it's not like you're playing soccer in it.

Ram's outdated cab design has a big impact on truck sales. If you look at the history of Dodge/Ram, you'll notice that a cab change happened every 7 - 12 years. Right now, we're going on 17 years with the same cab! There's a reason why the Ram HD looks very outdated.

1st gen (1981 - 1993), 12 years
2nd gen (1994 - 2002), 8 years
3rd gen (2002 - 2009), 7 years
4th gen (2009 - present), 17 years
5th gen (2019 - present) 1500 (DT) only, 7 years

You can quote numbers all you want. Actually sitting in the vehicles and getting real world results is what matters.
Then go buy a ford?

Me personally, you couldn’t give me a ford after the experiences I have had with their reliability issues in our fleet rigs. I also find their interiors on the mid-range trim levels to be severely lacking compared to say a Laramie trim.

To each their own.

God forbid a different brand does 1 aspect better than ours...
There is more than one thing on the fords that is objectively better than the rams. They are good trucks.

It’s just not worth the Powerstroke/10 speed headache that comes with it. Especially for guys like me who do all their own work without the ability to pull the cab for the most basic of tasks.
