Why do you want to put a flat CHMSL there? Kind of moot when you install a canopy that's going to block it entirely. When I installed my canopy, I just ordered a flat delete plate for the CHMSL.Has anyone removed a CHMSL w/Camera and and gone to the flat CHMSL w/o camera to allow a topper clearance/installation? Does the BCM have to be reprogramed to not throw error message? Thanks in advance for any info anyone has!
Hey Red, Thanks for the info - I didn't know that was an option lol. So I just brought a used 2500 home and tried to order a cap for it - the guy called back a few minutes after he processed my down payment and said we needed to verify if it had the cargo camera option and I laughed at him and said I had no idea. The truck is set up with everything I wanted and the cargo camera isn't a big deal in my world either way so I didn't really pay much attention to whether it had one or not. So now that I have a truck that has the cargo camera, that won't allow the cap to be installed, I need to back track and see how big of a headache its going to be - removing the cargo camera and reinstalling the block off plate that I didn't know exists, rather than non-camera light is simple, my concern is if I just unplug and remove the camera, do I need to reprogram the Body Control Module so I'm not looking at a failure message of some sort because the module isn't detecting the camera or am I OK to just unplug and install the block off plate and stuff the harness up into the cavity and have no issues? Sounds like you've played with these before so I appreciate you sharing your info!!!Why do you want to put a flat CHMSL there? Wow that's awesome - thanks a bunch! I don't have any interest in making changes that create more headaches. I also figure I'm not the only guy in the world to have a cargo camera equipped truck and wanting to install a cap - someone's done this before lol........thanks again for the help! You shouldn't get any failure messages when you unplug the camera/light. Just stuff the wiring inside the cavity and install the plate.
One last question, the part number you referenced.......when I plug that in to Mopar's website, it comes back and says it wont fit a 2500........I thought they ran the same cabs on the 2500's and 3500's - any thoughts? You shouldn't get any failure messages when you unplug the camera/light. Just stuff the wiring inside the cavity and install the plate.
Thanks, so everything I've seen, the cabs are the same - I'm guessing the reason they say the block off plate "does not fit my application" is to keep their use on upfitted commercial vehicles.Should be the same. I bought a CHMSL with camera for my 2500 that was out of a 1500 and it fit with no issues.
Red thanks again for the info, I went out this morning and pulled the CHMSL and found the camera comes out of the light assy. and you're correct - it'll lay up in the cavity just fine. Block off plate is ordered. One last question, the part number you referenced.......when I plug that in to Mopar's website, it comes back and says it wont fit a 2500........I thought they ran the same cabs on the 2500's and 3500's - any thoughts?
