Ram 2500 5th wheel prep kit - P/N

I have heard and read good things from folks using a gooseneck hitch but have also read of people having failed 5th wheel frames from them and some trailer manufacturers saying the use of a gooseneck voids the frame warranty. is there a data base where one could verify that towing their 5th wheel with one of these hitches is ok'd by the mfr. I too like the idea of the cleared bed. my B&W hitch weighs 240# so I use a hoist to add/remove it and that is a little bit of a hassle too.

The damage to 5th wheel frames comes from GN adapters that attach to the OE 5th wheel pin. Lots of unnecessary force on the frame with them.

Do the full conversion and it’s not an issue. The goosebox is endorsed by Lippert and doesn’t void their frame warranty.

not sure what the full conversion is. my ram has the oem pucks I could get a B&W turnover ball for the center hole. what else is different that would eliminate frame flex issues.

He is referring to converting your 5er kingpin over to one of Goose style on market.

My Grandest of Designs uses the Turning Point KP and my understanding is the only replacement available is the Gen Y due to the bolting configuration. Go figure…I buy the mutt.

Using a goosebox or gen-Y is a full gooseneck conversion.

thanx. duh , I forgot the actual gooseneck. have a friend with the gen-y. those are heavy duty for sure.

I think the goosebox is a better product, but both are fine.
