Hi All,
I’ve been a RAM customer for 15 years. Had a 2010 2500 Laramie. Currently have a 2017 3500 DRW Longhorn. Both of these trucks have been fairly problem free.
I’ve ordered a 26 Limited Crew DRW 8’ mainly for towing our 44’ GN.
I’m now getting spooked about the order as I’m reading about all sorts of terrible electronic issues on FB pages for the 3500.
Is it really so bad or is it that people tend to post problems rather than ‘all is well’ comments?
Truck was just “scheduled.” What’s the typical wait time for completion/delivery these days?
TIA

I would say get the truck. I traded my 24 in that had bent pushrods and who knows what else in for a 25 3500 Laramie and absolutely love the truck. I have had a couple issues but they do not outweigh the positives nor are they really problems.
1st warning light illumination unavailable. This is due to the dash not knowing the lighting condition and whether to dim or not. It’s a programming thing and will be fixed shortly but hasn’t had any effect on drivability, just shut the truck off and restart if it bothers you as it goes away.
2nd service trailer brakes. This was a programming issue as well. First time was on the test drive, couldn’t adjust the gain. Cleared the code, 2nd time it happened was at 6k miles and couldn’t manually apply the brakes by squeezing the brake applicator (idk what it’s called) cleared the code and it works fine and I’ve never had a problem towing so it’s not hardware issue and clearing the code fixed it immediately.

I took the truck in to have these issues looked at 2 weeks ango and there were 13+ updates installed at the dealer. And a few modules reprogrammed. I haven’t had anything else come back since but if they do it’s not the end of the world. Just clear the code with a scanner.

Out here in az during the summer every once in a while you’ll get some sort of warning that has to do with the front windshield mounted camera. Normally forward collision or cruise control. I know some have had this issue but 100 percent of the time it has gone away in my experience. I had it come up twice in my truck the wife’s bronco had the same and daughets e-pace jag. All 3 cars same warning when parked in the sunlight and no windscreen reflectors put up. All 3 cars clear on their own once the cabin temp come down. I’d be willing to bet this has something to do with other people having erroneous messages as well. Maybe it’s their first car with these systems and don’t use windshield screens in the heat of the summer. Idk

Long story short the truck is amazing. I fly 120+ million aircraft around. From the factory new everything will have a punch list of issues that need to be fixed just as a new house does . The same goes for a vehicle, I’d rather buy something from a manufacturer with more problems and they are willing to fix the issues that come up vs one that thinks they are gods gift and they claim there is nothing wrong when clearly there is and the can gets kicked until you’ve had enough. I’ve had these issues with Mercedes, Chevy and ford.
That’s just my take on the whole thing.
I say get the truck.

Wow. Thank you for that detailed response! I’m excited about the truck. I guess I just need to realize there may be some things to iron out.
I will ask my dealer to run all updates and check the fuse positions before I take delivery. Then I’ll double check.
Again, thanks for the reassurance.

Ya. Also keep in mind people don’t tell the world about their great experiences only that they were done dirty somehow. Everything new will have some sort of issue to be fixed especially the more complex it’s just the way it goes no dealer or industry is exempt from that. Enjoy your new truck and I would keep a list of issues and get the knocked out at once vs multiple silly trips unless it’s a big issue then of course I wouldn’t wait but I’ve got a little of 6k miles. Towed to Yellowstone and back among other trips this past summer and it hasn’t skipped a beat.

Don’t pay attention to Facebook . I have a 2020 Longhorn with 70 k mostly towing and have only been to the dealer for recalls . All 3 brands have tons of electronics in them and they all have issues . Just a matter of luck and hope . Buy your truck and stay out of FACEBOOK !

Not sure what factory warranty it is coming with, but I'd recommend buying the extended warranty.

Wish I had that when I bought mine! I didn't realize that was offered as the factory warranty any more.

I've got a little over 5k on my '25 Tradesman CTD so far, been great. Couple weeks ago it gives me the ACC unavailable and requires service when I try to use the adaptive cruise but the regular cruise works fine. Only issue I have and I'm too lazy to take it to the dealer just for that.
