Hello! Coming off three 1500s, I'm looking at a 2026 2500 Rebel gasser. I found one that seems like the right one for me (Forged Blue, 6.4L HEMI, 4.10 ratio), however, the dealer cannot confirm the towing capacity. Does anyone know if the Rebel has towing capacity limitations like the Power Wagon does? I need to tow 16k pounds... The Ram towing capacity chart shows 17,750 as the max capacity for the HEMI w/ 4.10 ratio, but it is unclear if the Rebel falls under the Power Wagon max of 10K pounds. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks. The door sticker says 10K GVWR. With the 6.4L HEMI, 4.10 ratio, 10K GVWR, the Rebel should tow 17,130. I had a dealer (not the one where I am looking at this truck) tell me that the Rebel has the same limitations as the PW, thus my concern and confusion. I can't afford to buy a truck that won't meet my towing needs! I think it will, though (that dealer was ill-informed)...
Good points, but do you mind expanding on why you would not not want 16k behind a 2500 gasser (no bags on the one I'm looking at)? I appreciate your input.
I'll be towing a horse trailer about 30-60 miles usually, but no more than 50-100 miles, over moderately "hilly" terrain (nothing too steep) a few times a month. Otherwise, it will be my daily driver, despite poor fuel economy. This has factored into my thinking. For the most part, I feel fairly comfortable with 16k lbs assuming, of course, that the Rebel is actually rated at 17,130 lbs.

I think you’re going run out of payload before you get to 16k pounds of trailer. My 2020 Ram 2500 6.4 with 4.10 gears has 2822 pounds of payload and is rated to tow 16,620 pounds of trailer. Note I have the Rambox which reduces payload.
With 16,620lbs of trailer 20% of that is a good pin weight, but that 20% is 3,324lbs which is 502lbs over my payload and no one is in the truck yet. Another thing my truck empty but with what I carry in weighs more than stock at 7,420 vs what Ram says of of 7,178lbs.
I think you should consider a 3500 rather than a 2500 and maybe even a diesel.

As others have said you may run into payload issues before you reach your towing capacity. Have you towed this horse trailer before? Has it been scaled? If it’s a 16k trailer but you are running around @ 12k…..different story. You would have some wiggle room.
My point about not wanting 16k behind my gasser is knowing how my ‘21 pulls our 12k 5er. I absolutely know it’s there. Yes it tows it well. I am a flatlander for the most part and sort of cringe when I know we are heading to hilly terrain. She revs and eats gas as we all know the Hemi does well. Something else to consider is the 50 gallon fuel tank from the factory.

Thanks, I appreciate the thoughts. I have not pulled the trailer before (my wife is "making" us get one for her, and our kids', habit!), but I noted 16k as a MAX weight scenario, which would only be moved short distances (less than 30 miles). The trailer we have in mind is about 6-7k, plus the horses will be around 5-6k, so probably 13-14k lbs total weight (including gear) behind the 2500.

Sounds like the gasser will do you fine for your towing needs. A 3500 may give you a little more suspension/payload wiggle room but isn’t necessary. Saddle up and enjoy. Post pics of the setup when you get it.
