My son bought a '24 2500 back in August and two weeks ago we drove from NJ to Estes Park Co, then Zion NP and finally to San Diego where he reported to his new Naval post and will be there the next three years.

We drove 3100 miles in 4 days and visited two National Parks. The first was Rocky Mtn NP where we experienced temps in the 20’s and snow to start the day. It peaked at 70 somewhere on Route 70 on the way to Zion which we visited the next day. We barely scratched the surface of either park but the upside of the Govt shutdown was we were able to go to both for free. In the 4 days we drove 900, 900, 700 and 600 miles. I got the ultimate test drive because I did at least 90% of the driving. The truck was smoother on route 80 than my Yukon XL could have ever imagined. It handled speeds in the 70’s while rain came down in buckets and we had minor snow and ice in Co. and it came through all of it way better than I thought any pickup could do, let alone a HD!

That trip gave me the new truck itch and yesterday I traded in my 2014 Ram 1500 for a new 25 Bighorn Sport and I think at least for NJ I got a great deal. The sticker was $64,895 and I got it for $54,901 and 85 miles on it. I ordered a bed mat to cover the 5th wheel and bed liner as well as Westin R7 aluminum nerf bars and will install them later this week when they are delivered. I plan on replacing the wheels and tires most likely with the Method 305NV with the black lip and the grey spokes to set off the all black truck and most likely get the Cooper Rugged Trek tires that have been the best tire I have ever owned and had 47k on them and still at least half the tread.

I have never had so much electronics in a vehicle which is somewhat concerning what may go wrong in the future but that seems to be unavoidable today. I am an analog dials guy and not this touch screen stuff. What else should I look to add as well as look out for?

Congrats, that is one hell of a test drive! Can't imaging putting in that many miles a day plus a few excursions. I agree that as highway cruisers these trucks are amazingly comfortable. You'll love the new truck, as far as what to add it depends on your use to some extent. I didn't do much to mine beyond backup lights, window visors, and went slightly bigger with tires.

I would not recommend that many miles in that short of time. I managed to pull my left hamstring and glute from sitting too long in one spot in my wallet. Still hurts two weeks later. ‍♂️.

I am thinking similar additions as you have done. What kind and size tires did you switch too?

I'm on my 2nd set of Falken Wildpeak A/T's. 1st set was stock size, 285/60-20, current set is 285/60-20. It seems like a slight difference but I really like the look, only raised the truck a half inch or so. I didn't want the truck much higher as I put paddle boards and kayaks in the bed all summer, didn't want to make it much harder on myself. Stayed with stock wheels, thought about getting new ones but didn't want to spend the money and I think they look ok.

Is that patriot blue? If so that is the color of my sons and he has the bighorn night edition too. You wrote the same tire size for the original and new tires. What was the second tire size?
