2025 3500 Laramie Ventilated Seats Stretching

Thanks for the update OP. Hard to believe they denied your claim, maybe some heads should roll for that one.
I thought @RamCares would certainly help you out on this. If not there’s a lot of people that won’t purchase a Ram again.
So far the dealer has told me my parts are on back order. I did go to an upholstery shop and had them write an estimate to fix my seat issue prior to my dealer visit. I gave the dealer a copy
Maybe try that and a different dealer, good luck

Do you mind sharing exactly how the upholstery shop said they would fix this? If the material is just likely to stretch again I may not want to do it. But if it was a permanent fix I might be willing to pay a professional if Ram won’t stand behind their product. Thanks for any insight!

Well guys, some disappointing news to share. According to a phone call I just had with the dealership, Ram supposedly denied the claim due to “outside influence”. When I asked him what outside influence was, he said “stabbing the seat with a knife” or something “in your back pocket stretching the seat”. I then asked what evidence there was of any outside evidence and he didn’t have an answer. Just said that “we went to bat for you, but they just said no”. I can assure you that no outside influence other than my 200 ish pound rear has had any impact whatsoever on the seat. The other disappointment with the whole experience is that I had a case open with Ram Cares. Ram Cares called me and told me that the dealership had told Ram Cares that they had attempted to make contact with me to advise me of my denied claim and hadn’t been able to reach me, and I don’t know how other to classify that, than that it was a lie. Just got off the phone with the dealer and told him this, and he just apologized and said they had intended to last week, but maybe they had just missed it. Overall, not a great result. Had heard some positive things about this dealer, but looks like I need to find a different one. Hope anyone else dealing with this has better luck.

I am probably going to consider katzSkin at some point.

The shop said they would replace the bottom piece of perforated leather with a new one to match with a proper fit. They also said they could add a small amount of foam if needed. They quoted me about $300 which I thought was reasonable. They also install Katskin Leather in their shop

That seems like a reasonable price and a good plan. Maybe I need to look around for a good upholstery shop near me.

I am not at all surprise to read about it stretching being I've seen this happen many times over the past 20+ years an from all 3 brands, I mean any time you put hundreds & hundreds of small small holes in cheap leather it will stretch over time/usage, its one main reasons why I would not buy any vehicle with ventilated seats......

Had no choice, myself…Covid days.
No problem with the seat so far, don’t use the heat or cooled nonsense though.

Call me crazy, but I think a little stretch on the seat is well worth having my swass mitigated.

I make that deal. Damn good deal.

Ventilated seats are a requirement for me now. I've gotten in many a truck after working outside and proceeded to stick to the seat....not anymore.
The last time I was in TX during the month of August and yes it was hot and the car we rented had dark colored seat I just stopped by Costco and bought an over sized towel to put on the hot seat an when parked & towel went into the trunk, an yes I am a cheap @SSS ;)

Well folks, as promised, here's the repair. I had a local upholstery place fix it after Ram denied the claim. The upholstery guy rolled his eyes when I told him about it and how they claimed I had somehow created the problem (stabbing it with a knife was the service manager's example -- how he said that with a straight face I don't know). What they did was remove the leather, remove half an inch of material from each side and restitch, and put an extra piece of seat foam underneath to stiffen up the foam a bit so that the leather didn't stretch quite so much when your full body weight depresses into the seat cushion. If anyone is in the Seattle area and needs a recommendation for an upholstery shop, let me know! Good luck to all those still fighting the warranty claim battle on your seats.

Looks better than new, thanks for the update.
Yeah mine wasn’t denied but all I hear from the dealer is “ still on back order “. I think Ram still offer this choice in leather so apparently they have some laying around!
Hopefully @RamCares can get back to us on this

Yeah, I have to admit the rollout of these trucks has had some serious issues with parts supply. I feel bad for the folks dealing with the faulty wheel speed sensors on back order. I’m just happy that I can finally buy an oil filter! Dealers around here were trying to charge over $100 a filter when they were scarce a couple months ago. Happy that Geno’s has the $20 Fleetguards in stock.

Well looks like the wife’s side is stretching now too. Looks about the same as the driver’s side initially. Also, while it initially looked good, the repair on the drivers side seems to be stretching itself out. Must just be really low quality leather on these Laramies. Guess maybe I’ll be going the Katzkins route after all.

What a hassle but I’m sure the Katzkins will be an upgrade! It’s too bad @RamCares isn’t stepping up to help out, they seem to be MIA lately.
Supposedly my dealer ordered the new cover and foam months ago, they just keep saying it’s on back order when I call!

Well it sounds like you have a good dealer at least! Nice to have an advocate when you have issues, that’s for certain. Hope they fix you up whenever the back order ends!
