Yes the solenoids are "normally closed" which means no oil. When it goes into MDS then they open and high pressure oil enters the special MDS lifter closing the intake valve. This was a cold air flow kit not just a paper filter inserted into stock set up filter case FYI they have Dyno records to prove it and supposedly does not viol;ate warranty. Regardless I may go back for drone sound when towing as It was a waste of money.
