***Update***
Well, I made it in the 6'10" garage. It is an experience driving along as each beam goes by. I found myself ducking on each pass...ha ha.
I do have air suspension so I did lower it just for peace of mind knowing it only lowers the bed.
Thanks everyone for the input!
Hi Folks,
My 2022 2500 CTD (stock) according to RAM is more or less 81 inches tall (the shark fin being the top). I'm heading into the city tomorrow and I've found a parking garage at 6'10'. Not a lot of wiggle room I realize, but do any of you have real world experience when finding public...
Dealer(s)? Thousands? No hope? That is a bit of hyperbole, no?
No doubt it is hard to find good outcomes in service these days. It requires a lot of patience and research but usually between dealers and local shops you should be able to find something without heading out of town? Seems extreme.
As others have said, the drag link needs to be tweaked. It takes 5 minutes to do. I've also noticed that in most cases the steering wheel will only be truly straight on the center lane (3 lane highway) due to the enginneered crest. It will still be "off" in the far right or left lane.
Drag...
So, you just take it "as is" based on their best effort? There are some crappy dealers out there, but that should be vetted before you sign any P&S. And no $$ transacts before you PDI the truck yourself. Inability to close on the sale is very motivating.
I'm sorry but you are way more tolerant than I am. I don't care where these get assembled or how they get to the dealer. If my $$ truck is not "showroom queen ready" when I take delivery, I don't.
I would think that if you break the accessory belt, the dash should light up immediately with all sorts of warnings. When it breaks you lose the fan, the water pump, and alternator functions. I would think the noise alone with startle the heck out of you. It sounds like all you got was a CEL...
The ride is more compliant with the airbag suspension. It also has all the other benefits with towing and ride height adjustability. Highly recommend everyone checks that box when ordering.
Coming from an IT background, that sounds like a nightmare scenario. The truck would have to pass a certain amount of checks before that even happens, I would guess. Such as not moving and ability to run a pre-post confirmation of the update. We've all updated PC's and that can be a crap...
Welcome!
Tips for diesel happiness.....drive it often, don't idle it, use quality diesel, change your oil, oil filter, air and fuel filters often (6K or 50% on the service indicator for the oil and fuel filters IMHO) and ignore that DPF gauge.
Best!
Always prudent to skip the first year of any new model designation otherwise you end up being the test pilots. I'm sure you will get things sorted, but it does suck to have to deal with the problems/annoyances right after you sign the paperwork!
Good luck!
