I always smell the oil on the dipstick and look at the color I also taste it for Antifreeze . Diesel fuel is easy to detect by smelling, antifreeze by tasting . That fill is not normal it is over big time !

That bit of wisdom to pour fuel directly into the filter is really bad . You are going to have unfiltered fuel going directly into the system which in my opinion is not good . If you have to do this use cheese cloth or something along those lines to keep any contamination out . My 15...

You need a code reader . I had that happen to me years ago . Plugged it in and cleared the code and it never happened again . Lucky .

I had the same issue . pulled the fuse and reinserted and it went away . Hope it works for you .
