Semiconductor Chip Shortage Causes Ram To Repackage Some Options:

Wouldn't be surprised to see that the chipset supplier is the same across the manufacturers while the embedded firmware is where IP resides. Access to the semi technology is virtually the same while license agreements and the political power of the purchasing departments separates actual...

Help me with a 2500 Big Horn build

Picking options is always a challenge. I was looking at the GMC 2500HD and the RAM 2500HD. The RAM fits in your standard garage. The GMC does not. Length is the issue. Review that item and your requirements. The Ford is also too long.

Is the 2500 a good all around truck, not for towing all the time?

The travel trailer addition could be the item that moves you from 1500 to 2500. A 1500 would tow a 20' with few issues. The 20' is likely 5,000 lb with a 500 lb tongue weight. The 30' is probably near 9,000 lb with a 900 lb tongue weight, maxing out the 1500. A 2500 would be a better choice for...

Good evening, I just joined the site. I recently bought a 2021 limited longhorn megacab with a 6.7. My first new big purchase of this sort.

While the below article is from 2014 the points made are important as the industry struggles with how to spec and market product. What Is SAE J2807? What Does It Really Mean For Your Pickup Truck? "The maximum-claimed towing capacity of most pickup trucks is bullsh*t. Those numbers are created...

Ram's Holding Some Late November to Early December (Possibly More) Orders Due to Quality Issue (threads merged)

Suspending HD orders is consistent with my recent visits to dealers in COS. The supply lines are a mess.

Is there a certain point in the year where you should just wait to order the next year's model?

It would be impossible for me to ignore the impact of Covid on quality and reliability. Overall it feels like Covid has adversely impacted both while customer service has declined. Production lines have been shut down and even after limited manufacturing has been restarted, component shortages...

Introducing 2022 models will be interesting. The following says semi issues to last 6 months. I'm thinking longer. https://www.just-auto.com/news/automakers-group-asks-for-chip-allocation_id201128.aspx

It's not just semi's. Many supply lines were disrupted by covid, economic shutdowns and reliance on Just In Time (JIT).

Why did you buy a 2500

Why a 2500? Because a 1500 is too light while a 3500 is more than I need. After 40+ years of camping where the camper went from a sleeping bag on the ground to tents to pop-ups to small hard-siders to our current camper which is a Lance 2375 it was time to address the tow vehicle. We did pull...

Who has driven both a Silverado 2500 and Ram 2500 gas?

Looked and drove both GMC 2500HD and RAM 2500HD diesel products. The GMC (Silverado equivalent) rode better due to IFS/IRS suspension. The GMC interior felt very dated and in need of redesign. The RAM was light years ahead. The GMC material felt cheap. RAM has figured out interior design. One...

Recently acquired a pre-owned 2019 RAM 2500 Pearl White CC Limited 4wd w/6.7L Cummins. First RAM PU after a 40 year history of Jeep J10, International Scouts and Land Rovers. Needed to upgrade the TV that pulls a Lance 2375. Have been using a Land Rover LR4 as the TV but now all the children...
