Same truck that was $81k MY2021 is now $89k.
So we are now talking pricier than Ford for a 10 y old platform that is long overdue for a transmission revamp, and they no longer offer the color I want.
Not an exact direct comparison but the difference is so large that most of it has to be attributed to gearing.
Car and Driver hit 0-60 mi/h in 6.1 s in a 2020 F250 CC SB 4x4. I believe they have a number for a similar but 6 speed at 6.5 s or something. I will try to locate these sources.
ZF are used in heavy duty trucks throughout Europe. 700 hp class MAN and Scania, etc. They are no joke. M-B makes their own transmissions.
Example: MAN D2868 16.2 L V8 (671 hp/2,213 lb ft) with ZF AS-Tronic 16 speed.
First, I'd settle for 8 gears. If you are paying $80k you are paying for tens of millions in R&D just like the Ford and GM guys are, but getting no R&D in return. Why pay for a 20 y old design? The fallacy of "Tried and true"? It's like the Toyota Corolla crowd back in 2014 singing the praises...
If nothing major is happening until 2025 (3 years from now...fall of 2024?), then I'll be buying a Ford instead. They can't keep this transmission charade up much longer. It would be nice to see the ZF PowerLine AP8 on the base Cummins and then the new medium duty 9 speed Allison automatic on...
But do the analog gauges vary between trim levels and option packages as well?
I believe for gen. 4 Rams, there seemed to be a four versus six analog gauge cluster possibility.
Yes, things breaking later on is definitely an issue. I do not know much about Delphi Quadrasteer except that it widened the track and was an expensive option. Rear steering has been implemented for decades now on very heavy vehicles, but if it's new here, then it's new.
Delphi Quadrasteer...
Thanks guys for all the photos and comments. I am pretty sure I will be going with 8'2" at this point.
The LB option is only $200, and another $295 for the 50 gal fuel tank. The bigger fuel tank is a huge bonus.
With all of the cameras and parking sensors you can get now, parking should not...
7 XL Linkable Kit. Looks like it may be about $1,600. I think it looks pretty good.
Don't quote me here, these specifications were adapted from a similar product just released.
