I had seepage in that area and noticed it at a 5K oil change. Mine appeared to stop seeping on it's own as I'm now pushing almost 20K miles and still dry.
However, I was ready to drop the shaft and change the seal myself if need be....so far, I'm still good.
It would be nice to know what the...
Obviously, please keep us posted on this as it does sound somewhat extreme for just a seal leak....unless, as you say, something more is going on.
FWIW, mine stopped, and so far, it's been fine.
Thanks,
LJ
I have not, but my leak was more of a seep, not near as bad as Post #7, and to lose that much fluid out of there, the whole back of the tail shaft & back end would be covered with fluid.
Mine finally stopped on its own.
I noticed mine when I did my 5K oil change (Post #9 above).
Upon noticing it, I took a rag and cleaned it up along with the surround area so I could get an idea on just how bad it was leaking.
I planned on making an appt. to have it fixed, but have been putting...
FWIW, I just installed the OEM bed step last week, and it's solid as a rock and works great for this old fella...
I like the way it tucks up and away such that the added rear mudflap can assist in keeping it from getting too crapped up.
The OEM unit is more expensive than the aftermarket models...
Yep. I'm familiar with the chalk test....good suggestion. I've also done it with a can of spray powder.
I just thought it was odd to have 5 psi more in the lighter back end than the heavier front end when I first looked at the factory sticker.
I've also done an approximate tread check by...
I had the dealership change mine at 1000 miles because the truck had sat on the lot for several months....and yeah, the tech had a heckuva time getting the factory filter off.
Big Brutus works in the oil filter installation crew...LOL
I just did an oil/filter change at 5000 miles last week. I...
While rotating my tires the other day, I always check tire pressure as well. Went to the driver's side door to look at the sticker and it had the fronts at 60 psi and the rears and the spare at 65 psi.
I thought that was kinda odd as my past trucks usually had the same pressure all the way...
I purchase my 2023 back in November and now have 5000 miles.
Changed the oil/filter and rotated the tires last week.
While under the truck, I noticed that I have the same exact leak as in the pic of Post# 7 above.
I haven't gotten a chance to take it in for warranty repair yet, but it won't be long.
I noticed a similar substantial mileage increase right at the 3000 mile mark as well.
IF it improves that way again at 12k, I'll certainly take it...lol.
FWIW: per the suggestion of a fellow member here, I checked all the fuses to ensure that they were well-seated.
Not a single one of em was all the way down, nada...not a one, and a few were about half-way out!!
I pushed em all down and have not seen this code, or any others, since.
Fingers...
I bought my 2500 last November. It had been sitting on the dealer's lot for several months.
I put a 1000 miles on it, then had the dealer change the oil (PUP 0W40) and filter (Mopar) and also had em check/top off the differentials.
At that point, I considered it: pretty much "broken in".
I...
I purchased my 2500 6.4L gasser back in Nov. 2023. 3.73 gears is seeing a shift into 8th usually at 69 mph. It will stay in 8th until dropping down to about 60 mph.
I've nicknamed it: "A Lazy 8" transmission, but I think they're got it programmed just right for the type of driving I do...
