I think I misspoke. There is one, in the dash. I want another, more out of the way, so that I don't want a pile of wires running all over the dash, powering the trailer camera, GPS and dash cams.
Yeah, if there was one actually live empty fuse slot that would be a smart option. Near as I can tell with a volt meter, literally none of the empties are hot constant nor ignition triggered.
Definitely want to "do it right" since it is not much harder to "do it right" and that's safer and...
Yeah, there's probably a couple of simpler routes to try, in my situation, first since I'm thinking about light loads (12v outlet, USB charging) so far.
Yeah, if I had the choice I would have got the upfitter switches option, but...... didn't have the choice so I don't have that on mine.
Powering a relay and using that to manage the switched power of a new direct fused connection to the battery sounds like a more robust option than using the...
I don't have the 12" display, but the system didn't seem to balk at a 128g thumb drive. Took FOREVER to index it of course. And it just reverts to the first song each time I select that option. I mean I like Pink Floyd but maybe not every time.....
My truck came with fuses in some of the slots for options I do not have.... like a winch, and airbags.
From what I can tell, these are switched circuits and at least the winch is a 20amp circuit.
Any danger in running some additional 12v outlets and USB charging outlets off something like...
Is it possible to tap into the power and get a switch power line off that PDC somehow? (I don't have the upfitter switches so most of that PDC is empty on mine.)
(Yes, I should have got a truck with the built in 110 outlet run off an internal inverter but alas I didn't order new from the factory, so I've got what I've got!)
A couple more 12v outlets and some USB power outlets, some of which will power a dash cam and wireless camera setup on a trailer, another of which will power a small inverter, tire inflator, etc.
Newbie question.
This is very interesting.
F983 sounds like what I need. My big horn doesn’t have a cab power outlet (assuming they mean inverted power) so this circuit would be available.....but my fuse box looks nothing like the diagram. Maybe I’m looking at the wrong thing.....?
I’m adding some 12v and usb outlets to power my dash cm and some other accessories that I want to power on and off with the ignition or accessory setting on my 2019 3500 Big Horn.
I thought I’d be smart and use one of those fuse tap wires on the main fuse box under the hood — but haven’t been...
