I'd say I am 'cautiously optimistic' at this point... I appreciate the efforts that went into discussing these and other issues with engineers at Cummins.
I wouldn't be surprised if the baseline soot load is different (lower) for 2025. GM did this on the 2024+ L5P, they actively regen every 200 miles or so now. The regens are much shorter than before, but much more frequent. My 2024 L5P would let loose the grey smoke every 150-200 miles, but only...
I haven't seen the front diff vent on the pw, but on my dually there is a 'stubby' vent on the front differential. I personally wouldn't take that thing in water higher than bottom of the axle tubes... My wife's gladiator has tubes running the vent up to the frame rails.
I bet Stellantis saved...
Agree on the 1500. I am excited by the new 3.0 turbo gasser engine. If you don't tow our haul anything, there are few (if any) strong motivations for a 2500 diesel truck. The cost to operate the diesel really only makes sense if they tow. The only thing to ask is if they might one day want to...
It's strange to me that these are the solutions the aftermarket has to come up with. To your point johnmyster, you can buy aftermarket valve bodies for the GM 10 speed. You can buy disaster prevention kits for if/when the CP4 grenades on the Ford. If the "CP8" pump starts grenading, they will...
From what I have seen, the limit is more on the high side of the range of the pump, in terms of output pressure.
Under normal/part load conditions, the CP3 and CP4 deliver roughly the same pressure. The CP3 may have to modulate the pressure control valve more to achieve the same pressure, but...
I spent the last year waiting with bated breath to see what upgrades the 2025 Ram/Cummins combo would have. I, like others, was excited to see the 8 speed transmission upgrade. Like Ford/GM, the 'guts' of the new 8 speed are most likely similar between the entire platform - GM/Ford has the ten...
I totally get you on the cab size point. Ford and GM have essentially used the same cab for their light duty vs heavy duty trucks for years. Only Ram held onto the smaller cab, for reasons I don't quite understand. The build quality issue is so spot on. I've walked away from vehicles because you...
We collectively hit the high water mark on features on these trucks years ago. Since then, things get quietly dropped from trim levels, while marketing folks sell us on how incredible the new 8 speed automatic is going to be, or the 1000+ ft lbs of torque. Or the spin that emissions improvements...
Probably a few years before Ram sees the larger 7.2 engine. I'm excited to see what they do to the after-treatment systems to improve reliability.
Personally, I'd love to see some Right-to-Repair laws go into effect on these systems. It scares the hell out of my wife and me to buy a new diesel...
I traded off a 2024 Silverado 3500 High Country for annoying electrical issues (and horrible seats)
I've owned five GM vehicles since 2020. Each and every one of them had electrical/electronics issues. I had a 2023 Tahoe baby duramax that would kill the battery during over the air updates...
Yeah it's really quite bad out west. I had a Ram 2500 air suspension system fail in Medford OR, the dealer there couldn't look at it for two months at the time. It was either find storage for the trailer for at least two months, and rent a car to drive home - or trade the truck in... Which is...
The recurring revenue opportunities for these manufacturers are huge. GM years ago forecasted they would make over $25 billion a year just on software subscriptions. The worst part, they're making money off both ends of it. They sell you monthly/yearly services that enable telematics marketing...
The way I see it, Stellantis (and FCA before them, and whoever was before them) has priced trucks built in Mexico at the same competitive rates as trucks built in the US for decades.
Ford/GM/Ram trucks all have MSRP's that are very close to each other when comparing options. The difference for...
