Funny thing, I had the same problem pulling my 5ver, I was fighting trailer sway for 6k miles on my first long trip out west. Someone on this sight mentioned the Alt Trailer Height button. I’m embarrassed to say the least. It worked for me, trailer pulls just fine even in heavy winds.
I’m running the Michelins Defender LTX. I’m happy with them thus far. Most improvement when running in the rain, I’m pulling 41’ forest river loaded at 14.5k.
TransForce tires did not feel sure footed in rain and snow.
You are correct. The 586 L comp model can run with or without moon clips. The clips help when reloaded or when you need to recover all your brass after an incident.
I picked up the 586 l-comp back in 2018 and yes, the porting does work very well. I carry it often. You will need to pick up some Moon clips to speed up reloading.
Yes, I tried the same thing and mine did work. I have the 5th wheel package, so it only works on the 12 pin located in the bed. The bumper mount I would need to unplug the box mounted connector feed cable and connect it to the bumper from what I understand.
I was having the same issue pulling my 42ft 5er. I was more concerned with the weight on the axles. After shifting the cargo around and adding 25-30 gallons of fresh water I was able to the axle weight around 50 to 100 pounds under, depending on what momma was packing. I try and keep my trailer...
I’ve seen this done before and it is on my bucket list. What kind of switch are you using to control the lights? I’m looking for some type of mercury switch to turn on the lights when the hood is up.
That’s crazy I seen where my truck gave me overloaded warning when I had my 5th wheel hooked up and the truck trailer was selected for conventional trailer. Makes me wonder if that message is stored and will cause warranty issue in the future.
