Yeah I understand the pid aspect, it shows the greater of the two between estimated soot or run time.
What I'm talking about is estimate soot load is all over the place. I have had one instance where from start Pid is in mid 20's, no reading on dash, and 1gl on the alpha old graph on start up...
It is on the both dash gauge, and the OBD monitors. Once it hits the 12 hour run time mark the OBD monitors (dpf pressures and air flow monitors) stabilize and don't jump around. Then the dpf cluster gauge will drop significantly in about 15min of driving. These are drive cycles without towing...
I’ll check the gaskets. I know there are no issues in the engine area. It just doesn’t make sense that it behaves normal as soon as the run time hits 12 hours. It seems if it was gasket it would wig out the whole time, and show up on monitoring of parameters.
Still racking my brain here, but I have noticed recently that the gauge goes crazy when I'm under 12 hours since last regen. If the timer can reach 12 hours everything settles out and estimated soot load drops significantly. I will then hit the 24hr mark. Nothing changes in drive habit, fuel...
Well as long as things stay settled until temps warm up for me in April hopefully a flash is available. Either that or I will find a new ecm for it. I really want to leave the power train stock as I’m actually happy with the over all performance for my needs.
Speaking of the TSB, I hope they broaden the build dates and loosen the parameters for replacement. Even if experiencing problems, you have to have a check engine light set and in limp mode because of it or the threat of power reduction (can’t remember which off the top of my head) before they...
I am positive it’s tune related now. Did a hour and half interstate run in 70 degree wether and had soot load to first bar increment the whole trip with no passive regen. It is now 54 and from cold start and traffic (leaving Dollywood) then in 3 min of 50 mph it cleared off back to zero on the...
I think that is the goal cost mitigation and no concern with a proper resolution. Notice the usual RamCares response is staying away from this thread.
With cooler temps (below 60 or so) i see no soot load and on longer drives good passive regen. a soon as temps are over 65 mid day I see soot...
