New Ram HDs in 2027 or 2028

Sorry to hear that. They were the worst truck engines built in the last 50 years, so no surprise. Mine’s an ‘06, so it’s a pre-maxxforce 9.3L. (HT-570) Very powerful, even for a heavy 6 wheeler, but had its’ share of problems. I did a head gasket, turbo and radiator on it. Previous owner wasn’t...

New Ram HDs in 2027 or 2028

I have a heavy duty dump truck and the automatic is only a 5 speed Allison. As a 5500 owner, I share some of the sentiments here on changes they’d like to see, but one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is this ridiculous “de-rating” of the cab & chassis trucks. Hey Ram, let’s make this...

    2025 4500 questions/issues

My 2020 5500 always seems to read 0% DPF, too. I run my truck real hard towing, so i thought it meant I was keeping my DPF real hot & clean, but I think the sensor isn’t reading correctly.

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

It was interesting to me that the 2500/3500 get helical cut gears and the 4500/5500 got the straight cut gears. Definitely an effort to reduce NVH in the lighter trucks

So it looks like a pretty substantial redesign happened. #6 heating the oil is pretty cool feature, but I wonder why the move away from CGI? CGI was saving some weight and is pretty strong.

Watch the video. The blocks up to 2024 or 2025 made in mexico from CGI. The 2026 blocks are made in China. It’s even stamped on the block. They are probably just assembled here.

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

I don’t know if anyone posted this link yet, but good info on the 2026 block. It’s made in China (regular iron). The previous generation was made in Mexico (CGI)

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

I’m only at 75K, but it’s been all work, not play doing farm-related work. The warranty has paid some claims, enough to pay for itself. Do you really think $3,000 in repairs is a lot? I needed a DEF tank pump and injector, a DEF tank level gauge, (2) heated steering wheels, and a passenger side...

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

A new, reliable truck is a money maker for me, but a CTL would make me even more. If I did go with a CTL, I’d still have my ‘20 Ram, but be opening myself up to inevitable repairs. It’s been a real good truck, but you can’t ignore duty cycles, or wear & tear. And those inevitable, upcoming...

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

I knew the 2026 cab & chassis truck specs, and although I thought the transmission change to an 8 speed was great, I was disappointed they didn’t bump the cab & chassis trucks’ torque to “keep up with the Jones’s” (Ford & GM). My dealer gave me some hope when he said ALL Rams will have a base...

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

I am talking about 2027 Ram, not a 2026. I’m sure the 2026’s are great, but I am actually looking at buying a truck that’s not even available yet.

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

2026 Ford rates their 6.7 Powerstroke at 950 ft lbs on their cab & chassis trucks. Which is 150 ft lbs higher than 2026 Ram. IMO, this is no big deal for Ram to match. Yet they haven’t. They are also onto something with their “F-600”. It has a GCWR of 22,000lbs. Not offered in a crew cab...

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

I have another large ticket item I’ve been wanting for 10+ years…. A skid loader. That could take care of the write-off I need and could still keep the current truck. Decisions, decisions

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

Me neither. I just question Rams judgement on this since so many do buy trucks soley based on power. I am not one of them.

New 2027 or keep my current 2020?

Yes and coupled with a much shorter warranty, I wouldn’t really be interested in Ford. If they extended the warranty, I would look at one. But I still think Ram was short sighted to bring on a great new transmission, but settle for 2nd or 3rd in towing as the video tests show. I don’t buy...
