I have to admit the above pictured Pearl White w/chrome 3500 was purchased for utility, not beauty. It’s hard to do much with dually wheels and transport tires. The only mod I’ve made is to added a big, black Ranchhand grill guard.
Just remember that jack stands are rated in pairs. Two 6-ton stands are rated for a 12,000 lb vehicle - 6,000 lbs each. 6-ton should be good. That is what I use for our 3500 dually which weighs in at 9,700 lbs. I’m a bit paranoid though. I use the jack stands to back up the jack if I’m going...
You’re right. The extra half quart will drain out each time. After the first fill, you drain 12 quarts and fill 12 quarts. I will continue, however, not to fill my vehicles above the full mark on the dipstick or worry about when I’m checking it because I’ll know what it should be no matter...
Sure I am. Checking your oil three times on the very first change of ownership {and never again) is certainly "over complicated". My gosh, that must suck, what, 1 minute out of your life you will never recover. Sorry for the sarcasm, but then the "over thinking" and "over{ly} complicated" tag...
If you had to pull out 2.5 quarts, you either goofed when filling it after the oil change or, more likely, you’re getting significant oil dilution from the frequent regens. Search for the thread “Making oil and poor dealer help”. I think that’s the title.
An earlier post here is right, the...
Did you really mean 2 oz. per gallon? According to the bottle, the 1x dose is 1 oz.per 10 gallons and the 2x dose is 2 oz. per 10 gallons. 2 oz. per gallon would be 10 times the recommended 2x dose, and according to some of the Youtube info, could cause engine damage from excess carrier fluid...
650F to 700F is about what I run for EGT2 (pre DPF) in normal driving. I don’t think you get much passive regen without a significant load. I don’t think highway driving at 70 is going to regen. It probably only slows the soot loading down a bit. If the components and tuning aren’t perfect, I...
Looks like the rust is coming from the edges of the drain hole. Ironic. I’d chip out the bubble, grind or wire brush out the rust, repair the spot, and seal the edges of the drain hole with something.
I own both gas and diesel trucks. I wouldn’t buy a diesel truck unless the gas version wouldn’t pull or haul what I need to pull or haul. My 13 year old Tundra gets almost all of the non-towing driving.
Does anyone know definitively what counts as “idle”? Is it engine running, not in gear? Is it engine running, not moving, or speed below a certain value? Is it RPM below a certain level? There has to be some set of actions that cause the track to add idle time.
Our 3500 is used for a lot of...
We just got a 2021 Jeep Wrangler with the 2.0L turbo. It has the stupid stop/start feature. It defaults to ON every time you start the engine so you have to push the button every time to shut it off, just like the exhaust brake on our 3500. As far as I understand, these buttons toggle a...
