I've pulled trailers with and without brakes. When you pull a trailer without brakes, you'll get just the blind spot notification. You'll get that weather you plug the 4 pin adapter in it not.
When you pull a trailer with brakes, you'll get the trailer type selection. If you disconnect the...
The truck uses the camera to determine if you have a trailer. I found this out for sure when mine decided I had a trailer when someone followed me close through the gates to our gated property.
Yes, I've been living with it because I can't afford to leave my truck with the dealer for 3 weeks or more. It's need doing the since I first drive it off of the lot brand new.
The LED light strip in the tailgate handle is pretty much worthless and makes the backup camera unusable at night.
I finally just took the tailgate apart and unplugged the light. What a difference. The backup camera works great at night now.

I was able to get the current gear to display. I had to use Alpha obd to enable it. The option then showed up in the dashboard to turn it on.
I'm having the same problem with that light washing out my backup camera at night. It comes on when I put the truck in reverse, and washes out the camera view at night, even without snow. Since I don't have the aux switches, I sure would like to find a way to stop that without just disconnecting...
I just purchased traded in a 1500 Ram Laramie for a new Ram 2500 due to the high mileage that I had. Love the new truck, and I'm hear to learn more about it from other drivers.
Thanks,
