It is rare for people towing for personal use get a violation. you would have to be doing something pretty bad for them to notice/care.
If you are for hire then you would want the 10K GVWR either to avoid have a DOT number or if you dont have a CDL. Otherwises get a 3500-5500. a 2500 axle...
I did leave that a bit open ended did I. I don't normally use mine for daily driving, most of the time it has a trailer on it that results in 4400 rear axle weight with the trailer empty.
With even one car it can result in a max axle weight which is also max tire weight. Unless it is a light...
It is well known that the 10,000 GVWR existed because of regulations/taxes. It would seem logical that they planned on upping the GVWR and designed the truck that way from the beginning. I bet dinner for 2 at Texas Roadhouse that is is just a sticker change.
That makes sense. You being 3 times higher in elevation than me certainly brings you down on power. Regardless of it being behind a Cummins or a Hemi the ZF 8 speed is a big improvement.
With regards to high RPM, obviously it is spinning fast but at the altitude you are it is likely making only...
Can you elaborate? A google search shows Ike peaks 9% and your truck handles it no problem. Hwy 550 Peaks 8% and you can't go over 30.
RT 125 in VT peaks 13% I have done it a few times with a 14-15,700 pound car trailer. the speed limit at the steepest part is 40 so i don't know how fast it...
Same here. Out of curiosity I drove in 4L and with the transmission locked in first 4000 RPM yields 8 MPH. Never say never BUT you will never run out of power before you run out of traction with that kind of gearing.
I would be surprised if you didn't run out of traction before power in low range. An advantage the new 8 speed has is gearing. The 6 speed in you old truck had a 1st gear ratio of 3.974 and you new 8 speed has a 1st gear ratio of 4.714.
Not enough to completely make up for the lower torque...
Question for everyone. With regards to oil, does it matter what the outside temperature is? My experience is it doesn't. if it is 33 or 95 it warms up and stays at 200-210 oil temp.
Would there be a purpose to use a thicker oil in a 6.4? Older cars gave you a range of choices but Ram says (at...
It is well documented than any naturally aspirated engine looses power as it goes up in elevation. It would explain why the cummins with a turbocharger is a rocket in comparison.
Every engine is a little different but at 10,000 feet the 6.4 would be making about 260 HP. While the cummins...
It will do an excellent job. Keep in mind what Ritchie Rich said. If you are up in the mountains 5000 feet or higher you will notice a loss in power.
I haven been higher than about 2800. the steepest i have ever done was a 12% grade bit it was short and it was a winding road so even if i had...
