So just an update. I took the oppertunity today to see if I could get that hinge loose seeing as the replacement part is not something I feel like doing so before I take it to a body shop to remove the tac welds from the body panel etc... I drilled a small hole with the comment in mind of adding...

Hey, I have the same issue over the last year it has gotten worse and worse to the point now I have to replace it... purchased the part but now that i have it in hand and seeing the amount of spotwelds holding the hole back end of the bed together I was wondering if anyone had any other options...
