I’m still in “wait & see” mode. FWIW, Service Advisor recommended against it and it’s not required (yet) where I live. I’m on my third Cummins 6.7L and not one of them has given me any trouble so I don’t know why I’d want anyone messing with it, other than routine maintenance.
BTW, there are...
The (GVWR) wet weight of my travel trailer is 7,600 lbs (and I carry most of the heavy stuff in the bed of my truck anyway when we’re towing). Still, I like some extra strength due to unexpected conditions (high winds, evasive maneuvers, etc). I’ll just have to keep a close watch on the...
I could destroy the world with a screwdriver so I pay others to work on my Ram. I had the old receiver cut out on my ‘12 and replaced with the Reese Titan Class V. I could have gone the cheaper route and ended up with two receivers but that looks ugly to me and it would irritate me every time...
FWIW, I replaced the hitch receiver (with a Reese Titan Class V from etrailers) on my ‘12 Ram 3500 before I ever towed with it (as the older receivers had a bad reputation of not holding up). I was ready to replace the receiver on my ‘18 Ram 3500 when I bought it but evidently the problem was...
Thank you. My family arrived in Texas in 1845. Most of my family are still spread across the Republic of Texas. I moved here after a hitch in the Army to be nearer to my Dad, who moved here while I was overseas.
Thanks. I haven’t towed with my ‘18 yet but when I towed with our ‘12 it would have been easy to forget our trailer was even back there. Easily towed across Wyoming at 80 mph (on the Interstates). I had Titan replacement fuel tanks installed on them (56 gal. on the ‘12, 52 gal. on the ‘18).
I transferred to the dry side 34 years ago & I seldom make it to the west side these days. I kinda got the feeling at the Battle of Seattle I wasn’t welcome...
I’m new here but not to Rams. I bought my first Dodge Ram new in 1985, a W350 that I loved but had to sell since I needed an extended cab for the baby. (It was underpowered but I still regret selling it, it was a beautiful truck.) The next Ram I bought was a 2009 Ram 3500 6.7L CCSB 4x4 and I...
The irony of the whole thing was I traded in my ‘12 Ram 3500 Big Horn (w/~50,000 mi) because the warranty expired. I had never had a single problem with itbut I was being (too) cautious.
Back in the ‘80’s I made the mistake of buying an extended warranty (not from the manufacturer) on a Ford...
I snapped the front driveshaft on my Ram when it was relatively new and still under warranty. I was driving in deep snow in 4-Low when it occurred, yet the service advisor accused me of hitting a rock which did not happen. I was in my driveway and there are no large rocks or boulders in it...
I’ve been RVing for 35 years, always travel trailers because I like the option of storing stuff under the canopy and SRW because we get a lot of snow in the winter. I prefer to travel light but if I towed a 5th Wheel I would prefer DRW due to the increased stability on the highway.
