If you ask some people, it’s time the Raptor got a big brother.

Ram has been gaining popularity with off-roaders thanks to its heavy-duty Power Wagon, which is, as of right now, unrivalled in its segment.
But that could be changing.

Ford has been watching Ram have its three-quarter-ton cake and eat it, too, and now it wants in on the feast.

It’s just hot gossip at this point, but AutoGuide has pointed out much of the language used by Ford’s president of global markets, Jim Farley,
at the Global Auto Industry Conference in Detroit this week could be interpreted as suggestive of plans to offer a Ford competitor to the Power Wagon.

“Everyone loves the Raptor,” Farley said. “With the new Super Duty, we got another new version that no one’s ever seen; not a Raptor, but something different.”

Hmmm. Something different, eh? Perhaps something around a three-quarter-ton with similar off-road capabilities to the latest Raptor?

The Raptor has owned the half-ton off-road truck market pretty handily since it was launched in 2010 and renewed in 2017,
but Ram recently announced it would roll into the segment with its own off-road-ready offering, the supercharged TRX.

It follows, then, that Ford wouldn’t sit idly by while its rival comes at it in the mid-size sport truck market while also dominating the heavy duty off-road segment.

Farley’s comments at the event teased other forthcoming Ford products, too, including the Bronco.

He encouraged those present to consider it “more broadly than just a Bronco,” suggesting there may be more to the upcoming reveal than just the one vehicle.

With Ford set to reveal its new Super Duty later this year, there’s a decent chance we’ll be seeing a sportier, dirt-bound truck along with it. We say bring on the competition.

The best thing that could happen is for Ford to challenge the Powerwagon.

That might also help me get my Outdoorsman Pacjkage I dream of.

And the possibility of this happening might even be the rumor of the Powerwagon going into the Rebel subbrand.

One can dream anyways...Hellcat Powerwagon...not like they don't already get enough air in that thing when they jump the Powerwagon.
