I just picked up an 09 3500. Low miles 109k. 6.7l. This box is connected to the sensor on the intake side right after the air filter. The older man I bought it from said it was on the truck when he bought it T the dealer. He has no idea what it is. Most of the words are rubbed off over the years. Any ideas? Thanks Leon

Old GForce performance box. Lowest cost/quality box of the era.

Basically they trick your map/maf to read a different impedence than before causing the ecu to dump more fuel/advance timing.

Thanks. So if I remove it, what do you suggest I replace it with? Not looking to smoke the neighbors. Today is our first trip pulling the 5th wheel. curious to see how it pulls with 3.42 rears compared to my 6.0l f-350 with 3.73’s.

Unless the gears were changed your 09 would be 3.73s as all 03-12 trucks were (unless they were the 4.10s)

13-18 was the only 3.42 gears from the factory.

disconnect that box and you wont have any issue pulling your 5th wheel no need for a tuner

Yea your truck should be pretty good with a camper. I think the 6.0 may of had more hp then the CTD in 09 or close to it, should be comparable. Is yours still emission intact?

3.42’s were an option stating with the 4th Gen in 2010, but all 3rd gen’s are 3.73 or 4.10.

I presume so. I just picked it up 2 days ago. The guy I bought it from is in his 70’s, he said he didn’t do anything to it at all. I’ll have to research to see how i can tell if the egr or anything else has been touched.

Post a full pic of the engine bay we can tell you if the EGR is there would need the exhaust pic to tell DPF

Here you go!

No. Looks pretty clean. I need to make a plan to delete some of these deals. First though, I towed our camper to the campsite yesterday. I was running about 65 mph and started to pull a hill. started slowing down. At 60 mph Ihad it floored but the tranny didn’t downshift till about 55. Not sure if that is a normal Ram thing or not.

It should have shifted, what grade was the hill and what weight of the camper

7% grade pulling +16K that seems about right to me. You could probably use the gear limiter to drop a gear and help keep from losing momentum.

I don't know how smart that boost fooler box is, but the Edge on my 04 would defuel on a pull like that so pretty useless in that scenario. That said, I'd expect the ECM on an 09 to defuel if EGT's are too high.

My buddy's (stock) 08 seems similar, if not worse. His biggest gripe pulling about the same GVWR RV is if he loses speed due to some idiot left lane loser, he can't get it back.

Try cleaning the soot off your map sensor on the intake horn. Odds are it’s caked in soot and not allowing full fueling.

Cleaning the MAF helped. Just ordered a Banks Monster intake and grid heater. Now looking for a text egr and dpf delete. But I live in Pa, so I need to make sure there aren’t any check engine lights on. Any thoughts on brands? Thanks Leon
