Thanks but no thanks, the RamCares representatives have wasted enough of my time over the last thirteen months trying to get a cab rattle fixed. This is just another of many reasons this will be the last Ram I purchase, the product it has become is less than desirable and FCA doesn't back the inferior product they are producing.
Are you sure its not your dealer and not FCA. Most of the repeat visits I read on here is due to the dealer incompetents'.

I am 100% positive it is not the dealer, I was even present for the maintenance that was performed for the TSB for the cab rattle. Everything was done per the steps outlined in the TSB that FCA released, the parts they are putting out are inferior.

As for the touchscreen, it has been replaced and is working properly now. Possibly just coincidental but the problem started after a hard freeze and the screen remained unresponsive until our weather warmed back up. Last week the mornings would start off cool and the screen would not respond to touch, after the truck sat in the sun all day the screen would function properly when I would leave work. The tech said it was the first one that he has replaced since the 12.1 has been out. I know a couple of other Ram owners that have a 12.1 and theirs are fine since the freeze...........

Is anyone with a 2021 experiencing these issues? Curious if there are some bugs that they worked out in secret for the 2021 models.

I am currently experiencing the same issue with my screen on my 2020 Ram, I have had it completely replaced, and the new one is doing the same thing. I keep hearing it’s a softest update but yet no update is being installed when I take it to the dealership. Has anyone had any luck? What steps did you take to no longer have this issue?

Adding my experience too...

Traded my new 2020 Tradesman for a 2020 Limited with 900 miles on it. Stinnett Ram dealership in Newport, TN sold the truck new, the guy brought it back three weeks later to get his Raptor back after complaining about the 12” screen. He sent videos and screen shots to document.

No one at the dealership told me anything about the screen issues. After the sale, I had to meet with the previous owner to get the second key fob. His first comment was, “Did the screen freeze up on you yet?” I had no clue what he was talking about, but at that point after owning it for one day I had no issues.

Sure enough, two days later I get no sound and a continuous message saying XM is trying to find a signal. I get online and begin to learn about all the issues.

Needless to say, I’m pissed at the dealer for not telling me any of this.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have the greatest experience with your previous specialist. However, I would be more than happy to look into your specific situation further. Just picked up my 2021 Laramie last week and yesterday the screen froze. I tried turning the truck off an on a couple times hoping it would reset, but no luck. Turned it off for about 10 minutes and then restarted and everything has worked for the past 24hrs. Looks like they have not fixed the issue for the 2021 model.

I changed mine to start up with USB1 (for Android Auto) instead of Sirius XM and it hasn't locked up since. Coincidence maybe but I have heard others say it is the Siruis XM hardware that is locking things up. Could be worth a try.

Good call, I have zero interest in sirius anyways so I'll make that change immediately once I pick up the truck

I used the driver memory buttons to do mine. Have the media you want to be associated with the profile selected when you set the memory profile. My wife seldom drives it but still has her profile set to Sirius. When I hop in and hit the memory recall button it switches back to USB1.

It could be a coincidence but .........

I too have had weird behaviour at random times with the 12.1" system. SiriusXM is "loading" and nothing else happens. I can navigate around from source to source, and hear the button-chirps when I navigate but can't turn the radio on or place/receive phone calls. I've seen this with and without my phone (Android) plugged in.

The fix, for me, is to pull over, shut the truck off, open & close the door - wait a minute or so until the dash lights/display turn off then start the truck back up and the problem goes away. But there have been times when I can't do that and it's beyond frustrating to not have nav or Android Auto (waze) available to determine which route home to avoid (traffic).

I purchased a 2020 Rebel in Nov 2019. Screen worked great up until just over 1 year. Approx January 2021 it stopped responding to touch. Rotary still worked to access phone apps such as maps, waze, pandora, etc but nothing else worked consistently. Maybe coincidental, maybe not but it was shortly after I didn’t resubscribe for another year of Sirius XM and Unconnect that this started.

Late March 2021 I took it to the dealership I purchased from just before hitting 36,000 miles. After hooking it up to their computers to try resetting it, they told me they weren’t exactly sure what the issue was, only that there was a malfunction with an internal component. He also mentioned to me that this was a very common issue and that the screens are very expensive, approx $1800 - $2500. He said they were ordering me a new screen and it would be covered by the warranty but didn’t know how long it would take to come in and would call me as soon as they got word when they’d receive it.

Its been almost a month now and no one has followed up with me about it. I’ve called and left several voice mails with no call backs. I guess the manager and assistant manager aren’t required to return voice mails. I really like my Ram but not being able to access the majority of the trucks functions is pretty frustrating, not to mention lack of follow up from their service department.

Thought I'd add to this thread since I just had one on June 14th. Touchscreen controls were frozen, would not respond. Display was updating fine and all physical buttons were working fine. Tried multiple methods to resolve, no luck.

Finally pulled off and parked the truck, shut off, got out and waited a few minutes. Got back in, all came up ok. So thankfully it is a minor annoyance (happens once in a while on my 2008 Jeep Rubicon with the full Nav radio).

I got to admit, I wish they would add a hidden service/reboot menu to the radio (we'll I'm sure there is one, we just need to know what the key sequence is to reboot it). The Jeep I always had to pull over and pop the fuse to fix it.

Cheers
Tim

2021 ram 3500 Cummins dually mega ordered end of April & picked up a week ago tomorrow. The sound went nuts yesterday jumping all over the place. Yesterday I started up in the afternoon and nothing, screen black no controls. Shut off started back up and the screen came back but the sound issue happened and AC barely kept up at 85 degrees outside and on the interstate. That said it appears they don't have it worked out unless they are shipping them out with outdated software/components. It seemed that the whole system froze in place Max AC versus regular didn't do anything same air volume same temperature and no change from blend to AC vents. It had that sickening wet stale air feel like when they are low on refrigerant. My 2018 3500 Dually Mega would freeze you out of it and it didn't matter how hot it was. Drove to the dealer today to pick up some stuff from the parts dept. and it seems to be working now. It has 108 miles on the odometer & am pretty disappointed. I left GM and started driving RAM about 20yrs ago. Its the first time I ordered one exactly how I wanted it and I get this. Fortunately I have been dealing with this dealership since 2014 when I bought my first Cummins 2500 and thy are all kind of unhappy about the issues. They called me a few minutes ago and wanted to know when I could get it to them and told me to make a list. We will see.......

Just started having this issue with my 2019 2500. Prior to this it wouldn’t charge batteries. Took it in and they suggested new PCM that took over a month to get swapped. Just got the swap today and was hoping that it would fix the screen issues. My screen doesn’t work when the truck is running. In ACC it will work. When it goes out it also shuts down the front windows, passenger mirror controls, locks the climate at 76 degrees on defrost. Taking it back into the dealership tomorrow

The UC12 is a disaster. Nothing on the UC12 works as well as as any of my sublime UC8.4s. ( which I was always extremely happy with) I’m glad to see UC5 come along and this giant turd go away. FWIW, I have had some various issues with the 12 and literally none of them were ever resolved. The finger pointing/run around game between Uconnect, Sirius and RAM is ridiculous. I still don’t know why there hasn’t been a class action lawsuit against all 3 for offering a product that does not work as advertised on these extremely expensive trucks.
