Hello everyone
I wanted to post here and see if others are having similar issues. I have a 2019 ram 2500 HD Laramie. Build date of 5/19. I took delivery in July 2019. Everything was fine until around late November. Touch screen started to become unresponsive on vehicle start up. It now takes from 5 to 20 minutes for the touch screen to start working. Also it started to not work after driving for about 10 minutes. The rotary dial still works to get to my waze ap and pandora but I can't get to seat or steering wheel heat control. I have the aux buttons so seat and steering wheel are touchscreen only. I have taken short video clips of the problem. I also get a sirus channel that plays in the background after vehicle start up if I have my phone plugged in.
I am in northern Nevada, so it is colder but I don't think thats the problem as it has worked normal in well below freezing and dosen't work when I start the truck on a 50 deg morning. Its scheduled to go to my local dealer in February.(not where I purchased ) So I am trying to get as much info together as possible before that. Uconnect is up to date as far as firmware is concerned .
I will try to post video clips so you can see whats going on.
Thanks all

My U Connect 12 has done all manner of wacky stuff icluding freezing up, BSOD, showing cameras not selected, changing radio sources spontaneously, etc., etc., etc. FCA is well aware of all of this, and has told dealers NOT to replace the display, and to wait for a re-flash. Meanwhile we are stuck with this overpriced, half-baked techno gimmick.

I like the big screen but... it gives me anxiety. It's been working as advertised and that doesn't seem right. Maybe I'm just getting too cynical...

Today when I selected the side view cameras only the left camera came on. Right side was blank. This system is crap.

Hi Alison,

Does your offer go for all of us who are having issues with our 12" Uconnect systems? Can you please provide a contact email so that all of the info you have requested can be provided? I picked up my 2019 Ram Limited on Nov 29th/19, absolutely love everything except for the problematic Uconnect system.

Looking forward to a response and hopefully some resolution! Thanks very much for posting the offer of support!

I am having the exact same problem as the OP, underdog13, on my 2019 Ram 2500 HD Laramie. It just began a few days ago, so far once it begins to work it doesn't stop as the OP has described, but makes me believe the problem is only going to get worse.

Alison (or current RamCares representative) has a solution been found? I will PM you as suggested above with the requested info.

Hello Alison

Thank you for your prompt response. Yes I certainly would like this issue resolved in a relatively new vehicle and I will plan on bringing it into my local dealership when I get back into town. Are you aware if the problem has been resolved with the other posters in this thread?

So I called the dealership to make an appointment and explained the situation, she recommended calling Uconnect to see if the firmware version was up to date. I got on driveuconnect.com and typed in my VIN to check and it said no updates available for my vehicle. Just to be sure I called the number on the site and talked to a representative, explained the issue to him, gave him my VIN and he told me how to find my firmware version which took a few minutes as we had to wait for the screen to become responsive...

I hit and held the bottom two corners of the screen and found the software version of 20.04.19. He said they have a newer version available but not sure if it would fix the problem. I asked when it will be updated, he said it was automatic and he didn't know when it would be updated. I asked if they could push one through to update the version and he said they can't that they have no control over it.

Seems absolutely idiotic to me! Is this right? How do I get the new version? Is sitting here waiting for it the only option? Seems like they should be able to push one through.

Called the dealership again, the service department is looking into it and waiting to hear back.

Heard back from dealership, the service department contacted Uconnect and apparently 20.04.19 is the latest version so made an appointment in the new year. Hopefully they can fix it.

I have been having the same issue this winter. The touch screen doesn't respond for at least 10 minutes and doesn't like any temp. of anything below 42 degrees. I have set up to take it to the dealer. And see what they say. But I dont have my hopes up. Like I keep hearing. Paid the money for a bigger screen just to have it not to work. I just been driving for an hour and still not working and it would be nice to be able to turn off the bun warmer.

We had it happen yesterday. Called RamCares who were less than helpful. we are traveling so took it to a dealer here who told us that they can update it but the update process often bricks the unit and new units are on a 6 to 8 week back order.

I looked for a way to reset it but nothing worked. Finally it started working again after being shutoff for about 10 minutes.

Has anyone had any luck getting this unresponsive touchscreen figured out yet? Mine has been inoperable going on the third week now, it started after our wintery storm down here in Texas. It may be coincidental but I have never had the issue for the 12 months I have had the truck until the temps were below freezing now half the features of the vehicle are inaccessable. I haven't had it to the dealer for the problem yet but looks like a visit is inevitable.

Thanks but no thanks, the RamCares representatives have wasted enough of my time over the last thirteen months trying to get a cab rattle fixed. This is just another of many reasons this will be the last Ram I purchase, the product it has become is less than desirable and FCA doesn't back the inferior product they are producing.
